In a court ruling filed this week, a judge cleared Lawrence Vander Esch of wrongdoing after a state Supreme Court decision from February redefined the parameters for sexual abuse. The judge's ruling also lifted requirements that Vander Esch register as a sex offender.

Vander Esch, 59, pleaded guilty in 2001 to fondling teenage male employees of the Pizza Ranch in Hull after falsely persuading them to donate semen samples for a University of Iowa medical research project. More than a dozen former employees spanning two decades told investigators of similar accusations against him.

Vander Esch _ also a former Sioux County Republican Party chairman(boldface mine) and former county treasurer _ was sentenced to 10 years in prison on four counts of sexual abuse and was required to register as a sex offender. He was released in March for good behavior.

Not to sound facetious, but if a man tricked a woman into thinking he was her husband/boyfriend and they had sex, that's not rape?

Yes, she conceded to the sex, believing the man was her husband, but had she known it wasn't her husband, she would've refused.

Or say you have two male twins, and one of them wants to have sex with the other's girlfriend. If she can't tell the difference, it's not rape?
