Does Rita Cosby Suffer From Vocal Nodes? |
|
It's an ailment that afflicts people who have to talk or sing for a living. Forcing too much air over the vocal cords causes them to flap around and rub against each other, forming callouses across from each other. The usual treatment is to shut up for 6 months or so and to avoid the behaviour that caused the problem to begin with.
Maybe Rita hurt herself a long time ago and has never had the chance to zip it long enough to cure the problem. A pink slip from NBC could be just the ticket.

3. She suffers more from being stupid. God, she's unwatchable |
|
I don't know who thought it was a good idea to give her a show. I cringe everytime she comes on.

9. How do some of these people get these "competitive" jobs? I don't get it. |
|
There is so much competition out there yet we see people like Kyra Phillips, Rita Cosby, etc. The two biggest mysteries are Larry King and Wolf Blitzer - how are THEY supposed to be two of the most respected "journalists?"

Her voice is abnormal and her vocal folds are most likely seriously bad condition. I suspect that she has been using an artifically low voice, which is unfortunately a common bad habit for female journalists. Habitually speaking in a too-low voice is abusive to the vocal folds. She should not be working as a newscaster while her voice is sounding this bad, IMO.
I had a bit of training as a speech pathologist. Thank you for bringing this up.
