This talk of how bad a "Leader Pelosi" would be, is sexism at its core. |
|
Edited on Fri Oct-20-06 12:16 PM by Beelzebud
This is the meme being regurgitated by every right-wing moron:
"If you elect Dems, we'll have to suffer through Leader Pelosi"
I've heard this about a thousand times in 1 week.
One thing I noticed. They NEVER talk about any ISSUES. They just say HER name.
Republicans - The party of racism, sexism, sexual perversion, war, greed, and hegemony.
I wish someone with a clue, in the mainstream media (ha), would call these sexist bastards on this shit. At least ask them WHY she would be so bad. Ask them what ISSUES she is so bad on. But no. All we here is that *gasp*, a WOMAN might be the majority leader.

1. Why no equivalent talk from them of a Majority Leader Reid? |
|
Anyway, a Speaker Pelosi replacing the disaster of Speaker Hastert is something long overdue.

2. It's all over the news... |

There are no issues to discuss. They're just trying to give her a bad name in the hopes of using her for a scare tactic.

5. They do it with Hillary, and here in Michigan |
|
they do it with Gov. Granholm and Debbie Stabenow. There's a mocking voice and a scrunched up face that go along with it. I have posted about this before re: Dem women.

9. IMO, it's not sexist, it's anti-lib |
|
Pelosi's body language, sharp features, and vocal tone all add to the conservative perception that she's a shrill and dogmatic liberal. At least that's what I hear from the repugs I know; if they have a problem with her being female I've never heard it. Doesn't seem to stop their admiration of Condoleezza Rice, for example. They all hope Rice will run for President.
Peace.

10. I think that it's more the "San Francisco Democrat" angle. |
|
They do the same thing with Kennedy, Kerry, both Clintons--anyone who they perceive as being a "liberal." All the better if you're from along the coast. Moderates like Boxer and Feinstein, on the other hand, don't get the same treatment because they're not as much fun as a punching bag.

And the "Ted Kennedy liberal" crap. Ted Kennedy is my favorite member of the entire Congress. One of the few I actually respect a little (another being Kucinich). In fact, IMHO, neither Pelosi nor Kennedy are liberal ENOUGH.

I think the California side of things and the Liberal side of things also play into this problem. But her sex is probably the biggest chunk. Bryant Check it out --> http://politicalcomment.blogspot.com

17. It is not even a certainty that Pelosi would be Speaker |
|
even after we're in the majority. The majority party leader does NOT automatically become Speaker. The new House elects a Speaker right after it convenes on 1/3/07.
So, all this Pelosi hysteria is even more comical than it appears. Tweety Matthews started this a couple of weeks ago, and the MSM just can't seem to let go of it.

18. They are playing all the cards..sexism, racism, homphobia, |
|
terror, and religion. Dumping the whole deck on the table. Pulling aces out of their sleeves. Only trouble is the earmarks on the cards are glaringly obvious and they have too many aces.
