If I posted the text of the 4th amendment on my lawn..
How long would it be before my home is illegally searched and/or surveilled?

I have nothing to hide, so I shouldn't have to worry. Right?

I ask because I'm thinking it would be good for the neighbors to brush up on their rights while they still can.

1. I wonder the same thing.
My neighbors WOULD report it.
Hey!
We could be cellmates in a free speech zone!

6. I'm not worried about the neighbors
I'm worried about the forthcoming Patriot Act II "Freedom" Police: Protecting Americans from the Constitution since 2006.

2. I have an IMPEACH BUSH bumper sticker on my car.
So far only one suspicious van has been hanging around my nearest public road. It boasts the logo of a non-existent power company in this area.

4. Very strange
Are you sure it's not a private family business or something?

5. No. It's the Edison Company, which is a power company in
parts of this state. However, in my corner of the woods, it's strictly PG & E. There is no Edison Company in any part of this county, I'm afraid.

Since I live up a private road, they have to stay down on the county road. I thought if they are around much longer I may take them down some coffee and introduce myself.

It could be that someone bought the van from the Edison Company. I thought about that, but it seems strange that they would park on the road as in this area, each property has plenty of parking for visitors and extra cars on their property.

3. If you want to do it
Why not? It's your property right? There's this neighbor next to my grandmother (dad's mom) who has the Ten Commandments up so if they can have that (and yes they had a Bush/Cheney sign too in 2004 blah) you can have the fourth amendment. Maybe put the first one up too.

7. Supposedly the NSA respects the 4th Amendment.
Check out this little nugget on their site.

"Americans expect NSA to conduct its missions within the law. But given the inherently secret nature of those missions, how can Americans be sure that the Agency does not invade their privacy? The 4th Amendment of the Constitution demands it... oversight committees within all three branches of the U.S. government ensure it... and NSA employees, as U.S. citizens, have a vested interest in upholding it. Respecting the law is only a part of gaining Americans' trust."

Much to the contradiction of what the president allows them to do. Hmmmm....interesting.
