I have thought about this from time to time. I really feel it today.
The puppet masters of this administration are just showing us they can do whatever the hell they want and there is absolutely nothing the people can do about it. They are using psychological operations to beat down those that are paying attention and watching their every move. It is a big game to them.

They know we got the goods on 9-11, stolen elections, corrupt politicians, money laundering, drug running, treasury robbing, manipulating economic numbers, fixing intelligence, crooked federal judges, MSM, illegal wiretapping, recess appointments, crony appointments, executive orders, signing statements et al.

Really we talk tough through the keyboard. But really, what can we do? And if anyone tells me we can get them in 2006 or 2008, I am going to reply with some of my nastiest smilies.

Got any ideas???

2. I agree...
...and I think Katrina was an excellent example of what you are saying.

Katrina was a LIHOP. They knew it was coming, they knew the damage that would happen. They let it happen.

It took them several days to get water to hurricane victims! BushCo loved it that we watched
everyone suffering, as they held back resources. They savored the suffering.

Katrina was their way of saying that they're in control...and they can show up on time or 10 days late, if they damn well please.

We constantly see BushCo escape accountability. I can't think of one criminal act or bad policy decision that has hurt them. They just keep barreling forward.

Who and what will stop them?

12. Form a new government?
Really, we can. If our governors or other state leaders convened a new Continental Congress and drafted a new improved Constitution, addressing the problems that the old one doesn't, whose to stop us?

Since the states control elections, all we have to do is put it up for a vote to the people in each state and if the people decide they want a new federal government they can vote it in.

I don't think the old government would be able to do much about it as their authority would be gone. We the people have the right to live under the government we chose, not what is chosen for us.

14. Who in Congress tells us we have lost the class warfare
Edited on Thu Jan-26-06 01:54 AM by firefox
That is it in a nutshell. There was class warfare and we lost. Does any body want to demonstrate some ignorance and insanity by arguing that?

We lost and those people in Congress do not represent us? When I say that we are slaves to the corporations and that the government is the overseer do you think I am trying to be funny?

We don't have a Party calling for busting up the 6 media companies because they don't want to because their powerful masters do not want them busted up.

The Dems haven't made the case about Alito and his role in giving a president unlimited power. They did not even give it an honest effort.

We need to zoom out to the big picture and that big picture says that we have had class war where 99% of the people did not show up. Goddammit we need a rematch. And we need to get our representative government back. This representation without representation crap deserves some immediate change.

15. General Strike
I think we can look at historically what people have done and "general
strike" comes to mind first. Imagine all DU'ers calling in sick for
a week. All Democrats calling in sick for a week. Then the following
week we flat out refuse to work. With real unity it could cripple the
abusive power.

If you want to get 'clever' be more discreet...strike on public transport. I mean DU sympathisers who work for public transport call in
sick and the rest of us form picket lines. Or...put your target where you
will.

It must be non violent. It must be dignified. I think we are looking
for leadership.

20. How many DUer's are there?
can we get 'everybody here' to commit to get 2 friends to do it too?
Then you start having a real impact. Somebody like Cindy Sheehan who
is the focal point calls out for a strike in sympathy with her and
her cause...and for each striker to "bring a friend"... I don't know,
I am not a poli sci guy...How did Ghandi do it?

18. Yes: boycotts, economic activism, and organized, focused activism
directed toward the MSM.

Look, the fundies in the country are a small but extremely powerful group. Why? Because they do the very things I've listed in the previous paragraph. They canned "book of Daniel" in mere days with those techniques. As one DUer put it; Republicans talk and do without thinking, while Democrats talk and think without doing. THIS MUST CHANGE. NOW. Tweety pisses us off? Call the program managers, bury them in e-mail,write newspapers, send a deluge of letters to every bloody sponsor until the man is canned. No more "but he's got a right to free speech" Democratic "niceness"-they have free speech-we don't. We must DEMAND our equal time. The airwaves belong to the public-and that's us. No more "but I vote" and deluding ourselves into believing that that and hours of online kvetching will change the world. ACTION-and thirty times more action from EACH of us-is the only way to change the course of history. Buy Generic. Buy Blue. Go without if Red is the only choice you have; sacrifices must always be made when democracy is on the line, and funding GOP contributors is the same as funding the GOP itself.

The first step is to force the media and our elected officials to stand up to this oppressive regime. An onslaught of emails, letters, phone calls and faxes need to be made regularly. Overwhelm them. It worked when the swift boat liars tried to put an anti-Kerry program on the air right before the election, it can work on a thousand other fronts as well.

23. Maybe you make a tactical target
focus on one city. All DUers do all they can in ONE city.

That would be a good start. Easier than a national effort.
Shut down Lincoln Nebraska with non violent political protest.

Then move on to St. Louis. Build momentum.

24. Psychological Operations in both directions.
Psy-Ops have been used in this country against The People for a long time.

You are correct in your assessment that they are tweaking those with knowledge. Just view Snotty Scotty at the WH press conferences.

However, how psy-ops is affecting those who 'don't pay attention' is where their efforts really pay off. Talk to the Average American Joe or Jane. They are like politically mind-numbed robots.

As long as they can so easily control the masses, they can gleefully blow their boogers on DU and anyone else who thinks they have a clue.

26. Three possibilities
They've got all the cards. That there's a new outrage every week is not evidence that they're about to crumble...rather, it is evidence that they're practically invulnerable. At 36% approval, the administration is not pulling any punches or backing off of misdeeds. In fact, the upcoming SOTU address will emphasize health care savings accounts, an even worse idea than privatization of SS.

Decades of planning and billions of dollars have paid off for the GOP, with three branches of government, 4th estate, global corporations, and elections in control. They are not going to let it go easily.

We are left to fight the good fight and then also hope for one or more longshots to come in:

1) still a possibility that a credible insider (Powell level) could come forward and spill the beans

2) the left could produce a charismatic hero, whose common sense and honest dialogue wins over large portions of the voting public

3) An independent prosecutor (Fitz is the only one still operating, I think) hands down indictments that eviscerate the administration and cast a pall over the GOP

Otherwise, I see no reason to believe things will be better in the next three years as compared to the last five. What we've so far seen -- towering incompetence, misguided policy, terrible appointments and nominations, corruption and corporatism, illegal spying, torture, white phosporous, environmental rape, deficits -- has not dimmed their ambition or arrogance. They are still there doing whatever they want, IMO.

30. I agree but consider the history of late
It seems so obvious to anyone willing to actually look & listen they are a morally bereft bunch of criminals.

For these die-hard Republicans still supporting this bunch there may be no revelation large enough to sway them. I have explained rational facts to (seemingly)rational people & gotten denial in return. I think we are dealing with a segment of the population that wants to be led by the nose.We must feed the TV in mass quantities of course so getting a Democratic News network started should be job 1. IMHO they are small petty people too so somehow pandering to that might work.

For the #2, well that's why I started responding to your excellent post. The poor person wouldn't stand a chance unless we put 'em in a locked bomb proof hidden location. EVERY charasmatic personable well spoken LEADER has met an untimely demise as of late. "Wellstoned" & "Suicided" for example.

#3, well I hope he does realize the urgency of his effort. Coming forward a little early may not be his style but we need the public to hear the truth.NOW-Before the SOTUS-We know what the hurry is there now don't we?

I'm gonna throw in #4 & 5

#4
There is an internal takeover-Possibly witha small military unit. They have lied to our General & they know it. Paybacks a bitch!

#5
A peoples revolution (AKA The Orange party Gov't blockade). That is a very long way off however. People are far to complacent. I blame McDonalds!

29. Sometimes, to preserve one's sanity,
it helps to remember "think globally, act locally." When feeling overwhelmed, narrow your focus to what you can accomplish right now this very day. The gub'ments slashed educational funding, volunteer as a tutor at an inner city school. MSM is providing misinformation? Print out a hundred copies summarizing the facts and staple them to phone poles or message boards at public transit stops where people are likely to read anything while they wait.

just thoughts.

34. Focusing on what you can control vs. what you can't
does make one feel like they have some power, but the corruption, greed, lawlessness etc.... of this administration is so deep that acting locally has less and less impact. Kinda like shoveling shit against the tide. I don't know what the answer is, but every time I see Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rove on tv or read one of their quotes, I feel like they're mocking us.

36. Good education, and an honest, hard working media.
It took us a long time to get where we are today. It's going to take a long time to get back.

I honestly think it goes beyond politics. Look at world population, and you'll see the curves all following each other. Numbers of dead in war; Rise of fascisms; Pollution; Unneccisary laws that burden and alienate.

My view on things is very dark. The light side is that we can change it all around for the people who will live on this planet after a half century. But it all starts with education.

Instead of fighting over what we think is right, let's do what we know is right.
