Plane Crash Display Causing Shock In Los Angeles
Plane Crash Display Causing Shock In Los Angeles
10-19-06

A shocking Halloween display is creating some extreme reactions in one Los Angeles-area neighborhood. The display features a fake plane crash so realistic even the police were fooled.

"It caught my eye. I thought a plane had crashed, and when I spoke to the owner he advised me that he was setting up a Halloween display," said Greg Andrachick with the Los Angeles Police Department.

The homeowner is an aircraft mechanic in training and the parts are from a real Gulfstream jet. Just about everyone who's seen the display so far likes it, once they realize it's not a real accident.

The only complaint the homeowner says he's received is that the display is creating a traffic jam in the neighborhood because so many people want to see it...

3. Very cool - I like original Halloween decorations
I hope for his sake, however, that he had permission from his employer to bring home the parts (or got them through some sort of legal channel).

6. Last year one area of the metroplex was seeing a rash of
thefts of Halloween decorations. They interviewed one homeowner and he said it was really sad, because this is supposed to be about "the spirit of Halloween."

The spirit of Halloween? :wtf:

7. not my cuppa tea but...
everyone has the right to do their own yard art, I guess. I saw a house in Florida that was made to look like a spanish galleon plowing through waves of pampas grass....

Strange to call this Halloween decoration IMO. But as yard art, it's OK with me. Kind of depressing though. Are the ghosts of passengers going to be rising out of the plane?
