It's time to give Iraq back to the Iraqis |
|
Iraq is a country rich in oil. There is no reason why they can't go back to taking care of themselves. The US is apparently doing a miserable job occupying their country, so it certainly can't get much worse.
If we got our greedy hands off their oil fields and got the hell out of their way, Iraq and the rest of the world will be a lot better off. With money from their oil, Iraqis could start to rebuild their own infrastructure. This of course, will create jobs and an economy and once the ball is rolling people will be so busy working they won't have time to kill each other.
Bush's plan is to stay in Iraq until he finishes completely destroying them. It's time to switch gears and go in a new direction.
Get the US out of Iraq and give the Iraqi's back their oil fields. The place will settle down in no time.

3. The US military in Iraq is like a bull in a china shop. |
|
You have to get the bull out of the china shop before you can begin repairs.
And that's no bullsh*t.

BushCo launched a military response and instead of delivering humanitarian assistance, they delivered boots and guns. It wasn't until General Honore was put in charge by Gov Blanco almost a week after the storm, did the situation start to come under control. I will never forget the broadcast from the Superdome and Honore telling everyone to put down the fucking guns and start giving out food and water. Maybe we should send Honore to Baghdad?

5. I agree we need to get out |
|
But I think the illusion that everything will be fine once we go is just nuts. It will turn into full bloody civil war and more then likely end up as a full Islamic state much like Iran. Yes Saddam was a bastard but I fear the damage we have done will end up with a far worse quality of life for Iraqis (especially the women) then they had under Saddam.
We broke it, and we can't fix it. The Iraqi's have a very long and painful road ahead of them.

6. I didn't say just get out |
|
Rather the US needs to put down the damn guns and with the Iraqi people and the UN, create a Marshall Plan for Iraq. First on the list should be the removal of companies like Halliburton and KBR. Iraqis don't need outsiders to rebuild their country, they have plenty of cheap labor available.
