http://pewresearch.org/obdeck/?ObDeckID=78This poll also debunks the idea that polls usually favor Dems. Examine it's 2002 and 2006 comparison. Reps lead 46-42% in 2002, and won by about 5 points. Today they lead 51-38 according to Pew. Pew is probably the best pollster in the company. These results are very heartening.
Only 57% of white evangelicals are voting for Republicans. The traditional hope among Democrats was that the ratio of Dem-Rep evangelical voters would remain the same, but that the turnout would be depressed. If the vote is depressed, AND Democrats increase their share of the vote by about 15% as it seems, that will be a disaster for the GOP. An absolute disaster.
Democrats also lead by about 10 points among Roman-Catholics and Protestants in general. We all know Democrats lead among Jews by ridiculous margins, something like 80-20%, and among atheists/agnostics/secularists by lop-sided margins.
Apparently 23% of "secular" people are voting for Republicans. That's pretty interesting. I guess they're all drunk or stupid. Cause I've never met an atheist in the Bush presidency that thought the GOP was looking out for his/her interests.
