"The Democrats are devoid of issues"
He said that they're just campaigning against Bush!

he said this WRT polls that show the main fear of pugs (45%) is that dems will take over congress...terrorism was next at 35%.

he blathered about how dems, like pugs, were campaigning on FEAR!

this guy is such a tool, just spouting RW talking points, one after the other.

I won't defend him by saying he's lazy, because it would take about ten seconds to find proposed Democratic policies that have nothing to do with Bush.

take Pelosi's first hundred hours, for one example. how hard would it be to look that up? he's just one of the lazy, cowering herd (as is Howard Fineman, who heartily agreed with all Allen's twaddle), who, rather than dare buck the tide, just go with the M$M flow.

plus, I can't stand that frickin' sneer, or when he tries to be a jokester on Olbermann

They do this ON PURPOSE for an AGENDA.

As you point out, it would take mere seconds to find Democrat policies and plans that wipe the floor with the likes of "No child left behind."

Mike is propmoting the long term "Democrats have nothing" meme that he has been mouthing since 94.

20. NAME THEM
Your pretty sure? Milbank and the other fellow there are Democrats folks...but they are capable of a little party self reflection....Evidenlty that is a quality a great many of our "democratic" pals here on the board lack.

Tell me...really....what are all the great ideas that Dems have been floating? Aside from Feingold I can think of NO MAINTSTREAM Democrat who has come up with one. At least none that I have heard about.

to steal from Huffington. What plan can (or do we need to) we practically implement other than stopping this madness? I want to see healthcare, education, security etc, but we have to pay our debts first. Any plan we come up with will be paid for how? Who do we stiff to implement it? Iraq withdrawl is a plan. Fisical sanity is a plan. Sanity in general is a plan in these times. They need to go, then we have to repair their damage.

35. Well..
First of all I'd stop paying 4 billion dollars a month for a police action desinged to secure the oil extraction infrastructure in Iraq for Haliburton and Bechtel, to name just two.....and I'd stop it IMMEDIATELY. No phased withdrawal or redeployment or any other bullshit terms used to describe spending vast sums of money on something other than AMERICANS.

Then I'd tell Americans taking salaries of 150,000 or more that I was not going to make any tax cut permanent....no I'd tell them I'd do everything in my power to raise their taxes and raise them SIGNIFIGANTLY. After all they have enjoyed the freedom America has offered to the degree that it has enabled them to take what they take. If they think otherwise then they can get the fuck out of the country and pay the taxes incured elsewhere....by people in countries who enjoy the former standard of living we enjoyed.

What your telling me is the Democrats are too damn gutless to say what they mean. That they have a policy of keeping there mouths shut and letting the Rethugs slit there own throats...the problem with that sort of logic is that we very well could end up with a bunch of Liebermans.

40. That's what you do after you win.
re: tax increase.

you don't campaign with it, though. even targeted among the highest brackets WILL be mischaracterized in the media as Democrats want to raise your taxes. even when your logic is correct, this will not play well in Peoria.

It'll take years, but we really really need to re-frame the whole tax issue by teaching people about regressive taxation, and illustrate the wealth imbalance in America. Simple message: 10% hold 90% of the wealth. They should be responsible for 90% of the tax revenue.

Trouble is, Congress is part of that 10%.

34. You know it's asking alot?
Gee that's a real nice web site, I sure am glad I have a computer or I couldn't look at it....and golly now that I am I see that IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE and it all makes sense. I mean...that is one hell of a message!

I also see...

# Make Health Care More Affordable: Fix the prescription drug program by putting people ahead of drug companies and HMO's, eliminating wasteful subsidies, negotiating lower drug prices and ensuring the program works for all seniors; invest in stem cell and other medical research.#

Gosh....make health care cost more affordable by FIXING THE PRESCRIPTION DRUG PROGRAM...BY PUTTING PEOPLE AHEAD OF DRUG COMAPNIES AND HMO'S...I kinda thought a better idea might involve getting rid of the program entirely and allowing social security to competitively bid the prices of drugs....then again all the money the drug companies have invested in employing people to handle their robbing of seniors under the present plan would be smoke if you did that, so I guess we better just fix it... you know...by putting people ahead of drug comapnies and HMO's (whatever the hell tha t means).

# Help Working Families: Raise the minimum wage; repeal tax giveaways that encourage companies to move jobs overseas.

Yea this would be a great idea! The same minimum wage that Clinton didn't raise......and didn't make much...hell, any stink about the Rethuglican House putting permanently to rest. Oh, and repealing tax give aways that encourage companies to move jobs overseas...wowy, how exciting. Though it might be more exciting if they protected the jobs that are still here but have been stolen by the 20,000,000 or so illegal aliens that have invaded our country. You know, by enforcing the laws already on the books which penalize employers of illegal aliens...or heck, they could even write some laws with much more sever penalties for such employment...you know, like jailing the entire board of directors or owner of said business for 10 years, respectively, for each and every illegal hired....and a meaningful fine instituted under the same terms in the amount of 25,000 each. Heck we wouldn't have to deport anyone....nope they'd leave on there own. Of course that would throw the banks that loaned them all money for a house, which they've got 2 to 5 familys living in, in hock....and gee we wouldn't want to do that. It might fuck up the great run we've been having on real estate.

# Cut College Costs: Make college tuition deductible from taxes; expand Pell grants and slash student loan costs.

Hey, wow I think I've sprowted wood!!! Let's see now...I'm a college graduate (not really) and I can start deducting my taxes for the 80 grand it cost me to go to college. Now let's see....I make 30 grand a year 'cause the pay scales lower than shit 'cause there is an excess of employees 'cause there are 20,000,000 or so illlegals flooding the job market and I'm not gonna get any sort of a real raise 'cause the payscale is stagnant for the same damn reason and it's gonna take me about 30 years to pay off my debt....at least 30 years....yea wow that sounds great!!!! Gosh they're gonna expand Pell grants....wooooweee....But just a minute here...how the hell much are they gonna expand them....are they gonna expand them like Bush claims he has cut the deficit....you know "I've cut the deficit in half" of course he neglects to mention that even cut in half it's still larger than that incured by EVERY administration which preceeded his COMBINED. The unaddressed and very relevent question is HOW MUCH will you increase them by. Gosh, I wonder why they've neglected to mention that?? It's a softy now....

# and wellllll, fuck I'm not even going to address their "dignified retirement" bullshit. You see I am retired....i'm retired because of a catastrophic injury I've sustained....and I've been fighting two years to get what I've worked 30 years to earn, disability. Ahh, but I digress. This little story I shall elaborate on in a later post. Suffice it to say letting 20,000,000 people into the social security roles ain't gonna get me mine.

So I'll ask you again, aside from a CHANGE (a reach around? What, they're gonna do me in the mouth instead of my ass) what the fuck are the "Democrats" offering aside from not being Rethuglicans?

One very VERY pissed off FORMER Democrat,

RC

9. well, part of it is,
several democrats HAVE a great message. many do not.
Sorry, but true. Besides, how many voted for Patriot Act and the Military commisions act?

the Democratic Party has a major battle, and we are lucky that the GOP is too fractured to take advantage.
in one corner, Gov. Dean has been kicking ass with his 50 state strategy.
in the other, Rahm has been trying to reconstitute the DLC, but only in his favorite states.
The friction between those two goals has been ignored by the GOP.

We are lucking out, in many ways.

How often have we lamented the spinelessness of many Dems inside the bloatway? Where there is smoke, there is fire.

do suck mightily, including Milbank.

I'm a passionately loyal Democrat and will vote a straight Democratic ticket again on Nov 7

But there is a bit of truth in what Milbank says. People are not enthusiastic about Democrats so much as they are just fed up with repukes.

The Democrats (for most Congressional seats) are running for change, although very little focus is on a change to what. Most of the focus is on what the change will be from.
