Why are the Reukes pushing for Hillary to be the Democratic
nominee..Do they think they could defeat her easily?
I know she will have one hell of a war chest but I just dont think she can get the nomination..The field will be pretty competitive with much better campaigners' than her..But the Repukes are certainly pushing for her..
The never mention Feingold,or Bayh,or Kerry,or Edwards or any others. Its always Hillary..

3. Because her own party is split on her
And naturally that would help them.

4. I wouldn't vote for her. And given who her opponent may be, I'd
probably not vote.

6. Exactly what you said: Easy defeat.

The Republicans have nobody to offer for 2008. I do mean nobody. I've not seen any proposed candidates put forth that wouldn't be shredded by even the Constitution party. Their best hope is to pull some tame, lackluster Congressman out of their party, and run him against a highly divisive and easily assailable target like Hillary, so that their Poindexter will win via Hillary losing. It's the only chance in hell they have, and relies on Hillary being the nominee.

No offense meant to Hillary or any of her supporters, but she'd be a dead ship in the water for a presidential run. Every nasty piece of BS the Republicans can come up with will be slapped onto her, and distressingly enough, America will buy it, because they've been conditioned to.

7. Easy.

She's extremely polarizing figure and she's vulnerable to the left. ALL of the right venemously hates her guts, and half of the left can't stand her for being too far to the right. Personally, I think she'd have a rough time even making it through the primaries, but if she did, the RW media would make toast of her. A great many Democrats despise her for her war-hawking, her opportunistic culture crusades (Censoring video games? Voicing support for an anti-flag-burning amendment?), and her generally nauseating DLCness. I suppose it's obvious that I'm among them...

8. It's a tactic to divide Democrats at a time when they need to be focused.
As noted upthread, she's someone about whom almost everyone has an opinion. So it's tossed out by the right wing, knowing that the bait will be taken.

Wrong battle, wrong time.

10. The same reason they talk about....
Nancy Pelosi,John Murtha, and Charlie Rangel having leadership positions and comittee chairs....they're trying to stir up the "backwash" base against the party with women and blacks in charge.....

11. They want her to run just like we would love to see Condi run. No
way in hell a woman will get elected President of the United States. Many men would vote against a woman - no matter what party they are behind. It sucks but the chief executive glass ceiling is still way too thick. Maybe things will change in another 20 years.

12. Hillary has the best chance...is the current frontrunner...
So they concentrate on her...

If the Republicans truly wanted to make sure she got the nomination they would not say a word. Any kind word about a Democrat immedietely engenders distrust of that person in the party. Republicans speaking kindly of a Democrat does NOT halp that Democrat in the paty.

Fact is the Republicans are scared shitless of having to face Hillary Clinton, they have been burned by the Clintons numerous times already, and want to destroy her chances in the party.

18. Who says she is the front runner?
You hear that on the right wing media and take it as gospel?
Ok so they take a poll and ask 50 people and that makes her the Front runner..I'm betting she doesn't make it out of Iowa with anything better than 4th place...

20. Uh...every poll taken of Democratic voters...
Over the last 2 years!

Right now she is the frontrunner...doesn't mean she will win, but right now she is the most popular Democrat with voters for 2008...

14. If Hillary was the Dem nominee, the Reps could run ANYONE and still win
ANYONE.

There would be no Dem nominee easier to beat than Hillary. Hell, Katherine Harris is more electable on a national scale than Hillary.

If the Dems are dumb enough to nominate Hillary, I won't even wait for the election. I'll beat the rush to move out of the country. Because it will guarantee another Republican president. And the massive turnout to vote against her would probably also lead to the loss of a few newly gained (in '06) seats in the House and Senate.

Anyone but Hillary. Please!

15. GOPs push "inevitably" to control their primary process. They think it
will work for Dem primary, too.

But Dems are made from completely different stuff. Most Dems make their actual decision during the series of debates. THEN the nominee starts to become apparent to them.

16. they collectively invested hundreds of millions of dollars
in an eight-year PR campaign demonizing the Clinton name.

They hope to get some secondary leverage out of their investment.

Plus, if their propaganda somehow fails, the reality of the Clintons is closer to the repuke pro-corporate agenda than would be some other Democrats.

All of the Republicans hate her and many Democrats hate her too. I mean hate her, not merely dislike. All the money in the world won't save that campaign.

23. She's the bogeyman that gets their base all riled up.
She's one of the things that they use to cynically manipulate their people and maintain their power. I'm afraid that if she was the nominee, there would be an incredibly high turnout by people who have been conditioned to see her as a sort of a Satan figure.
