There is just nothing I can think of that appalls me more. The idea of doing what they do when parents, friends, wives, husbands, children are grieving for their loved one is just beyond comprehension. In the entire process of dealing with the loss, that moment of finality at the graveside is SO intense, and to have this going on - I cannot express myself.

17. Jay Sekulow, religious right lawyer, blasts ACLU for supporting

protests at vets' funerals. I have no link for this; I've heard him say this on several of his broadcasts. He makes it appear as if these are anti-war protests; he NEVER says that Phelps is a rabid gay basher and a fundamentalist 'christian' preacher.

Sekulow is supported by Pat Robertson, et al. He is the 'go to' guy for defending prayer in school, etc.

He cleverly depicts the ACLU defense of free speech as a defense of anti-Americanism. Remember the ACLU defended a neo-Nazi parade years ago in Skokie IL, where many Jews lived.) A means of further demonizing the ACLU to the religious right.

22. There is a good chance they won't show unless they are in the MidAtlantic

area right now. They have to drive from Topeka and they claim to be coming to a lot of funerals that they never show at, or only one or two of the clan make it too with their spawn.

I don't know what they are thinking going to a Marine's funeral who obviously has a lot of friends in a small population area to boot....

They threatened to do this last summer at the funeral of one of my mom's oldest friends' grandson, but didn't show. There were several hundred Marines there as his unit had just come back to the US in time for the funeral. His wife was 6 months pregnant then, and recently had the baby, it was a boy.

I had a physician's appt. out of town or I would have gone to the funeral, I even volunteered to read from the BCP, but it was a Baptist funeral and they didn't need a lector. I am glad I didn't go. I grew up with the kid's parents and aunts and uncles....
