Bush Finds Vietnam War Parallel in Iraq - Didn't the US lose that one too?
http://www.voanews.com/english/2006-10-19-voa12.cfm

President Bush says the recent upsurge in violence in Iraq is reminiscent of a tactic used by North Vietnamese guerrilla forces at a crucial point during the Vietnam War.

The White House has resisted drawing comparisons between the fighting in Iraq and the Vietnam War.

But during an interview with the ABC television network, President Bush spoke about one possible parallel. The comments came when he was asked about a newspaper column by New York Times journalist Thomas Friedman, who compared the recent spike in violence in Iraq to the Vietnam-era Tet offensive.

"He could be right," Mr. Bush said. "There certainly is a stepped-up level of violence, and we are heading into an election."

The Tet offensive is widely considered to be the turning point of the Vietnam War. While Communist forces ultimately lost the Tet offensive, they won a propaganda victory that prompted Americans to lose support for the conflict.

3. Kerry's response
"The president was on ABC-TV doing an interview with (George) Stephanopolous. He compared Iraq to Vietnam. How the hell does he know?"

7. Not in rightwingworld.
In rightwingworld it was the traitorous democratic congress, led by Jane Fonda, that lost the war by pulling the rug out from under the brave ARVN soldiers and giving in to a bunch of dope smoking homosexual atheist communist jewish hippie bastards closely aligned with the viet cong.

Ho ho ho chi minh.

8. I was there for the Tet offensive. I would rather have been in Vietnam

for the Tet offensive than be in Iraq right now. I recently read a book about the Vietnam war and read that the area where I was stationed during Tet, Long Bihn - Ben Hoa area, was attacked by 12 divisions of the North Vietnam regular army troops. After the fighting was over I went to Ben Hoa to see how the town had been destroyed. A Vietnamese woman was crying and I went up to talk to her. In Iraq I don't think the troops feel safe walking up to civilians and talking to them anymore. I hear they don't want to venture outside the green zone. At least I could drive around a bit without fear of getting shot by civilians after Tet.

9. The only war
that we didn't loose was WWII. Korea was a conflict, so was Vietmam. This pres. is an insane nut. Dammit the dems better impeach and try these asses for treason and war crimes. We can't let them retire from office in peace, not after the damage they've done to this country as well as the world.
