So Maybe I'm Changing My Opinion of Paul Bremer
Edited on Sat Oct-21-06 09:50 AM by MrCoffee
I blame Frontline. I just saw The Lost Year In Iraq this morning, and for the first time ever, I kinda have a little sympathy for ol' Paul.

I said kinda maybe.

16. Or Lilliputian, regarding his ability
He was put there exactly because he didn't have a clue.

He may not be a bad guy. He just wasn't equipped to stop the bad guys.

3. There are a lot of people who you do have to feel sorry for..
because they got the blame for Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld's incompetence. Those people are very responsible for America being in this crappy war, and secondly for so poorly fighting this crappy war.

4. No, don't waste your sympathy on a selfish neo-con and ex-roommate

of Dear Leader. He's up to his eyeballs in corruption. Don't forget the 9 f**king BILLION dollars that turned up missing upon Bremer's departure. :wow: Methinks it was skimmed-off for some of John "death squad" Negroponte's shady pursuits. :( :puke:

They are active players in this death spiral of immorality and government corruption.

May God help us get all these war criminals to the Hague. :grr:

6. No sympathy...
Bremer, like his mentor, Henry Kissenger, deserves no sympathy.

7. No, Bremer was front & center about bringing in all those
no talent republican kids who got to "help rebuild" Iraq after
the take over of Baghdad. Such as Liz Cheney (the non gay daughter)
and those little shits from the heritage institute who had been college
repugs and worked in Ice Cream stands.

9. Don't bother with even a little sympathy for the bastard...
The most disasterous decision was made right after we over rar Iraq....and that was to disband the standing military and the police force....That was all Bremmer....that was his decision and he is directly reponsible for all of the Iraqi deaths...

13. You are in the minority in regards to Henry Kissinger's chief of staff
Bremer should spend the rest of his life behind bars or be executed along with the other criminals that have harmed our nation.

14. I could sympathize if he had said "I'm in over my head", and
either not taken the assignment, or worked closely with Jay Gardner, who was NOT in over his head.

But instead, he cluster-fucked an already fubar-ed (but potentially salvagable) situation.

15. IMO, albeit Jay Gardner was a little bravado, he truly cared about
both the Troops and the Iraqi People. It was a shame that they kicked him out in the first week. Gardner did NOT, I repeat - Gardner did NOT plan to disband the Iraqi Military. For that reason alone, this immoral and corrupt Administration let down the Troops, the Iraqi People, American People and the World Community. :grr:

17. If Bremer would have turned over Iraq instead of hogging the power
himself, we would have been out of Iraq within the first six months.

He was told to turn Iraq over to Iraqis but he said "the Iraqis are dumb and can't handle it" so he kept the power for himself and sat in Saddam's palace dreaming up idiotic plans while Iraq burned.

He had pure contempt for Iraq.

He has nothing from me but my contempt for him.

19. Bremer is the idiot who followed the "debaathification" of Iraq
He got rid of the Iraqi army and police, against the recommendations of Garner. Bremer is the one to blame for the debacle in Iraq. Had they not released the Baath Party army and police forces, things would be very different in Iraq now. He was told it would take AT LEAST 10 years to build an army and new police force from scratch and he ignored that info. Because of his arrogance (he was in charge now and NO ONE was going to tell him what to do), he created this mess that is Iraq. The Saddam Baathists are the "insurgents" who are fighting our troops. They are the ones who have recrutited fighters. All he had to do was pay them each $20.00 (that's what they asked for) and they would have stayed on to help, but Bremer had other plans. That's what we're seeing now. A QUAGMIRE.

21. remember bremer was following orders ..and therefore became a war criminal
this admin wanted a quagmire..that way they could build their permanent bases..and their new vatican size base..Bremer over saw the contracts to steal the iraqi oil forever..and now we have little lord pissy pants bases..the oil..and the iraqi's can do nothing but fight back..

Bremer is a war criminal..no different than those who have been tried and found guilty of following illegal orders at Nuremberg

I hope his ass fries in a international court for the war crimes he has committed!

and then i hope he rots in hell! with the rest of the pissy pants administration of murderers!
