Bush says Iraq attacks are propaganda - I thought we attacked them?
http://www.upi.com/NewsTrack/view.php?StoryID=20061020-062106-4434r

WASHINGTON, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- U.S. President George W. Bush said the spike in violence in Iraq is a calculated ploy by terrorists to swing public opinion against the U.S. presence in Iraq.

Bush, in his Saturday radio address, echoed many of the same points he'd made about the Iraq war previously, including a promise to stay on the battlefield until victory is won.

Recent weeks have seen a sharp increase in casualties and a U.S. general said this was because U.S. military personnel are taking a more active role in Baghdad patrols and so are more visible targets. Bush said those attacks are seeking to do more than destroy a fighting force; they are to send a message.

"The terrorists are trying to influence public opinion here in the United States," Bush said. "They have a sophisticated propaganda strategy."

1. Ironic that the spokesperson for those who try to control the
dialogue and thus Public Opinion would worry that someone else is supposedly trying to do it.

He really expects us to believe that what the Iraqis do in their war-torn country has no goal other than to influence US Public Opinion? LOL, too stupid even for comment.

2. Why should they care about us? Except to see us all dead?
And everything we've seen so far, they're more inclined to think of clever ways to kill us - rather than fiddlefarting around with an election, which would (according to all the "dems are soft" rhetoric) only make the Bush, et al, look WORSE.

If the terrorists cared to get Bush out, wouldn't they act like good boys and girls until the Dems won?

5. "They have a sophisticated propaganda strategy."
Unlike the United States right Georgie Boy?

Is part of their strategy to produce videos that republican campaign strategists turn into fear-mongering television ads targetting your shrinking base?

7. Iraq is like the Bible to Repubs.
It can mean whatever they say it does.

But of course they've been sending a message all along: "US stop supporting oppressive regimes, US stop manipulating our resources, US stop occupying our lands."

8. So if the attacks that are occurring now are propaganda, in spite of our
own propaganda attempt (more like putting lambs before the slaughter) to secure Baghdad. Does this mean that the corollary is true ? That we attacked Iraq in 2003 for propaganda purposes ?

11. Elections, not important.
Getting us out of Iraq, important.

Scoring extra "Allah's Reward Points", important.

Getting us dead, important.

Confidence that jihad during Ramadan must be successful, stupid ignorance.

US elections ... debris on the side of the road.

12. Self-Centered Arrogant Child
Yeah, right. The Insurgents in Iraq, Kim Jong-iL, the Iranian leader. They all make their moves in order to influence American elections. The GOP is the center of all the rest of the world. I can't wait until they get the 'Theory of GOP Importance' into textbooks. </sarcasm>
