What is going on in that race? Can you guys pull it out? How did a 15 point lead dwindle to 3 points?

Just curious because I absolutly hate JD Hayworth! YUCK!!!!

1. Harry Mitchell is a formidable challenger
This seat is on the Lean Republican list, Hayworth is not a lock to win this time.

7. Ooo boy, I don't think C-Span would archive that one.
It was about four or five days ago. I don't think there would be a live link anymore.

But Hayworth got slammed good over an ad he was running on immigration. And Mitchell came across very strong as a business owner who knows how to get things done.

6. AZ and NV have weakened for the Republics
http://www.electoral-vote.com:2006/

A couple of days ago, AZ and NV were strong republic and now they are reporting weak republic.

Maybe we'll see those two states turn blue before the election.

10. I'm from AZ but in Grijalva's District - the one I want to see creamed
Rep. Senator Kyl. I've got an article coming up Monday on my Native Unity blog about Kyl and an a staffer who is anti- Native American. That should help to sway the Native vote.

Unbelievable
Hayworth Campaign Lectures Jewish Community On Judeo-Christian Values, Then Claims Congressman Is a 'More Observant Jew' Than Jewish Audience

October 18, 2006

TEMPE − Unable to defend his repeated praise of Henry Ford's anti-Semitic "Americanization" program, U.S. Rep. J.D. Hayworth bailed on a scheduled campaign appearance Tuesday evening only to send in his place surrogates who repeatedly lectured the audience at Temple Beth Israel in Scottsdale and proclaimed that Hayworth "is a more observant Jew" than those present.

The comment by Jonathan Tratt, a spokesman for the Hayworth campaign, drew loud and angry boos and caused nearly three-quarters of the crowd of more than 200 to walk out in disgust. After the walkout, another Hayworth surrogate, Irit Tratt, stood on the Temple's bimah as she told members of the audience who gathered to ask questions, "No wonder there are anti-Semites."

Hayworth's refusal to attend may be a result of criticism the Congressman has received for his continued refusal to apologize for his idolization of Ford, a well-documented anti-Semite, and his praise of Ford's vision of "Americanization." As the Jewish News of Greater Phoenix noted, "A brief tour of the American Jewish Historical Society's Web site, www.ajhs.org, would have clued Hayworth into the xenophobic, anti-Semitic nature of Ford's vision of 'Americanization.'"

Earlier this month, Hayworth was named one of the "Backwards 18," "a list of the 18 worst members of Congress up for re-election this November on issues of importance to the American Jewish community" after Hayworth "garnered a great deal of attention as of late in Arizona's Jewish community because of his refusal to distance himself from his previous praises of Henry Ford and his explicitly anti-Semitic theory of 'Americanization.'"

11. Here's the story on the stats
New Poll Shows Race a Statistical Dead Heat
Race Continues to Tighten As Hayworth Caught Making More False Accusations

October 17, 2006

TEMPE − U.S. Congressional candidate Harry Mitchell and 12-year incumbent J.D. Hayworth are locked in a statistical dead heat in Arizona's Fifth Congressional District, according to a new poll released Monday by SurveyUSA.

The poll, broadcast on KPNX-TV Channel 12 (NBC), showed Mitchell within three points of Hayworth. The results showed Hayworth with 48 percent and Mitchell with 45 percent − a difference well within the poll's 4.4 percent margin of error. The poll showed Mitchell leading Hayworth among Independents by a 2-to-1 margin.

The SurveyUSA results are similar to other recent polling results.

A poll published Oct. 4 in the National Journal's House Race Hotline also showed the race was a statistical dead heat, with Mitchell leading Hayworth by a margin of 40 percent to 37 percent. Twenty-three percent of the poll's respondents said they are undecided or voting for another candidate.

The troubling results for Hayworth come on the heels of independent findings that he has been running for re-election on a campaign of lies and distortions.

Last week, the non-partisan and non-profit watchdog organization Annenberg School Political Fact Check, on its Web site FactCheck.org, refuted dishonest claims repeatedly made in all three of Hayworth's ads, calling them a "mischaracterization" and "distortion."

15. Why do I know the name JD Hayworth? Aside from being another
Repub wingnut, is he known for anything in particular? Or does he just have one of those familiar sounding Hollywood extra names?

JD Hayworth's Beer and Ribs Joint.

JD Hayworth's Used Cars.

etc.?

20. so there will be no Democratic victories by margins of less than 5%?
Trying to understand.

If the margin shown in the final vote tally is 7% for the Democrat, are you saying the real margin was 12%?

And any election won by repub by 4% should really be a 1% Democratic victory?

No electronic machines whatsoever. I'm convinced Republicans steal elections with them (and probably have more evidence to back it up than YOU do), but since I voted here, and I know what voting system we use, I know your argument is s a crock of shit.
