I just got a call from Lt Gov candidate Tom McClintock |
|
inviting me to stay on the line and participate in a telephone "town meeting". I did what I normally did and pressed the "end call" button on the phone. Guess what? Nothing happened the asshole was still babbling away. He said I was being put on the schedule to talk live to the candidate. For 10 minutes I tried to hang up the phone and get rid of the call but I couldn't clear the line, they were still talking. Finally I got to some sort of call screener and chewed her ass royally. What if I was having a medical emergency and needed assistance? What if my house was on fire and I tried to call the fire department? I pushed the button again and finally heard a dial tone. Anybody else have this experience? Isn't shit like this illegal?

1. Politicians are exempt from most laws. I had a call once from |
|
Jenny Waite-Brown. Said to push a button to enter the conference. While I was debating whether to bother or not they automically put me in. I listened for awhile. The usual crap. I didn't try to make another call after I hung up though.

2. I've taken to answering the phone like this: |
|
"Bueno".
We live with, and "take care" of my 91 year old father-in-law who gets what seems like 100 calls a day from RNC, NRA, Ollie North, Friends of * - you name it.
When he's out playing golf - yes, still out hitting the links while we take care of everything - we answer his phone.
The minute these folks hear what sounds like Spanish they hang up. Simple. Of course it's not MY phone that I have to answer for MY calls...
What you describe SHOULD be illegal.
