Newsweek Poll - Over 1/2 Americans Say - WE SHOULD IMPEACH Bush
Edited on Sat Oct-21-06 01:51 PM by kpete
Does This Newsweek Poll - Mean Over 1/2 of Americans Think WE SHOULD IMPEACH Bush?

From Newsweek's (Obtuse) Poll Results:

Other parts of a potential Democratic agenda receive less support, especially calls to impeach Bush: 47 percent of Democrats say that should be a “top priority,” but only 28 percent of all Americans say it should be, 23 percent say it should be a lower priority and nearly half, 44 percent, say it should not be done. (Five percent of Republicans say it should be a top priority and 15 percent of Republicans say it should be a lower priority; 78 percent oppose impeachment.)

1. *Sigh* They Refuse To Report The Aggregate (The Right Slant Is Blatant!)
Edited on Sat Oct-21-06 01:33 PM by Beetwasher
Notice how they split up the number for those who support impeachment so you don't get the full picture? They never say 51% support impeachment, do they? But they DO report the opposed number. Liberal media yadda yadda.

"Other parts of a potential Democratic agenda receive less support, especially calls to impeach Bush: 47 percent of Democrats say that should be a “top priority,” but only 28 percent of all Americans say it should be, 23 percent say it should be a lower priority"

This paragraph is BULLSHIT!! 28+23=51%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 51% of ALL AMERICANS support impeachment!!!!!!!! They call that "less support"!!!!!!!!! ARRRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! They PURPOSELY play with these numbers to make it look less impressive. They mix and match their demographic data sets and split up the data so you don't get the full picture. Pathetic.

2. what is says is that aggressively pursuing impeachment would be a mistake
What it indicates is that a substantial majority of Americans would not be happy if impeachment was aggressively pursued to the exclusion of, or detriment to the pursuit of, the "First 100 Hours agenda" matters that they feel are more important. In other words, if the Democrats were to come out of the box treating impeachment as equally or more important than these other issues, they would pay a price with the voters.

9. Perhaps it is time for our representatives to DO THE RIGHT THING...
This administration is full of war criminals. Many have committed treasonous acts...

In other words, if the Democrats were to come out of the box treating impeachment as equally or more important than these other issues, they would pay a price with the voters.

How can any authentic American look the other way? Sometimes doing the right thing isn't the popular thing. If we don't hold these treasonous, rat bastards ACCOUNTABLE...WE BECOME THEM.

Just my 2 cents...

11. True, but it's better than that.
With 51% of the electorate apparently believing that * has committed impeachable offenses (!) if he obstructs Congressional investigations or continues with his insane behavior (like there's any chance he won't) the people will be ready to turn on a dime and DEMAND impeachment.

3. THAT is both amazing and hilarious.

They went around the numbers about 5 times to avoid saying "56% of Americans want GW Bush impeached". And the number itself is incredible. When was the last time this many people wanted a president impeached? It certainly wasn't the 90's.

7. I Know! They Did the Same thing w/ the TAX CUTS!!!!! BS ALERT!!!!!!!!!
"Other parts of a potential Democratic agenda receive less support, especially calls to impeach Bush: 47 percent of Democrats say that should be a “top priority,” but only 28 percent of all Americans say it should be, 23 percent say it should be a lower priority and nearly half, 44 percent, say it should not be done. (Five percent of Republicans say it should be a top priority and 15 percent of Republicans say it should be a lower priority; 78 percent oppose impeachment.) Rolling back some of the Bush tax cuts would be contentious too: 38 percent of Americans say the Dems should make that a top priority; 28 percent say it should be a lower priority; and 28 percent say it shouldn’t be done at all."

Look how they are mixing and matching the demographic data sets and slicing and dicing these numbers to make results that are significant look less impressive. From the results above you might not get the impression that the majority of Americans support impeachment, would you? But they do. Read it carefully.

"Other parts of a potential Democratic agenda receive less support, especially calls to impeach Bush: 47 percent of Democrats say that should be a “top priority,” but only 28 percent of all Americans say it should be, 23 percent say it should be a lower priority and nearly half, 44 percent, say it should not be done."

28% of all Americans thing it should be a high priority and 23% say a lower priority, BUT 51% OF THE FUCKING COUNTRY SUPPORTS IMPEACHMENT!!!!! That's fucking big, big news.

Same thing w/ the tax cuts:
"38 percent of Americans say the Dems should make that a top priority; 28 percent say it should be a lower priority; and 28 percent say it shouldn’t be done at all."

56% PERCENT OF AMERICANS SUPPRT ROLLING BACK THE FUCKING TAX CUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!! But you don't get that impression do you? Instead you get the impression that these position are NOT well supported. I wonder why? Maybe it's because of this first sentence from the paragraph:

"Other parts of a potential Democratic agenda receive less support,..."

THIS IS TOTAL BULLSHIT. MAJORITIES OF THE PUBLIC SUPPORT BOTH POSITIONS. sigh

10. MSNBC: Do you believe President Bush's actions justify impeachment?
Do you believe President Bush's actions justify impeachment?

Yes, between the secret spying, the deceptions leading to war and more, there is plenty to justify putting him on trial. 86%

No, like any president, he has made a few missteps, but nothing approaching "high crimes and misdemeanors." 4.4%

No, the man has done absolutely nothing wrong. Impeachment would just be a political lynching. 7.3%

I don't know. 1.8%

13. Well, well
We should just sit back while traitors destroy this country, the constitution, and the middle class. No one should be held accountable for breaking laws and their oaths of office. We should ignore Congress that passes laws clearly against the constitution and our freedoms. That way the next Neo-Con can just come along and finish the job of destroying America and walking on the lives of patriots that fought to protect it. What has happened to this sick country?? My stomach can not take much more of this.
