Sen Hutchison-If I'd Known Then What I Know Now-Would've Voted NO To Iraq
Hutchison: WMD info swayed vote on Iraq By SUZANNE GAMBOA, Associated Press Writer
Fri Oct 20, 7:43 PM ET

WASHINGTON - Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (news, bio, voting record), one of President Bush's most ardent loyalists on the war in Iraq, voiced her strongest criticism yet of the administration's reasons for going to war.

In a debate with her challenger in the Nov. 7 election, Hutchison, R-Texas, said she would not have voted for war had she known there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. But she also made it clear she does not support troop withdrawal.

"If I had known then what I know now about the weapons of mass destruction, which was a key reason that I voted to go in there, I would not vote to go into Iraq the way we did," Hutchison said. "But I have to say, I don't think the president would have asked for that vote, either. We had intelligence that we relied on."

Her comments Thursday night come as a small but growing number of Republicans are suggesting a change in the Iraq strategy may be necessary.

The only thing articles like this do for my spirits is give me some relieve, at least they don't think they have the election in the bag (the theft isn't a guarantee this time.)

7. Translation: "If I had known then that EVERYONE would find out
Saddam had no WMDs, and that I would look like a clueless idiot and a liar when I campaigned for re-election, I would have voted No."

8. In other words......
her constituents are now against the war so she decided she would distance herself from Shrub. BTW...It pisses me off that it took this long for this country to turn against the war. What a bunch of assholes. What do they say to themselves? "Gosh, I am sorry all of those innocent soldiers have died". Some of us were smart enough to be against Shrub's War For Oil BEFORE it even started. I hate them all for being so stupid and letting the Repuke government get away with this.

9. I don't like Hutchison any more than any one else here, but this is huge
When even Hutchison is admitting the war was wrong to begin with it shows how much things have shifted in this country. I can't stand Hutchison, but I recommended this thread because I think it is very important that people see that even the strongest Bush loyalists are starting to have second thoughts.

12. So, what, Kay?
What are you going to do to prove your contrition?

Talk is cheap.

If you are not now moving heaven and Earth to make things right,
your words mean nothing.

17. And why didn't she know then?
Is she that stupid??? Eveyone else.. or at least everyone not wearing
republican colored glasses.. knew exactly what was going on.
Bush never had a good reason for going to Iraq... and years later..
he still has no good reason. You'd think that with all this time and all the
combined republican thinking that they could make up at least SOME MEASLY EXCUSE...
but nooooo.... they are just too fucking dumb for something that simple.
Good gravy !!!!! How do they live with themselves !!!!! Seriously !
