Candy Crowley on the "Broken Democrats", just now on CNN

"One: no backbone. Two: Too much policy talk. Ever since the seventies when they became the party of acid, amnesty and abortion, they have been on the losing side of values issues blah blah blah."

To which Cafferty says she might be the "best writer in America".

She has officially crossed from "political reporter" to "RNC talking head".

64. Why do you people watch CNN?
I stopped watching CNN in December 2005 !

People like Candy Crowley, Wolf Blitzer and Bill Schneider gave me good reason to stop watching CNN.

I saw Al Gore on Larry King Live one night while looking at channels on cable so I did watch CNN one night for an HOUR and turned it away as soon as the show with Al Gore finished.

CNN leans heavily Republican and I won't give them any viewership from me nor will their advertisers get me to see their commercials.

and, only 39 y/o

In comparison, Walter Cronkite was 46 when he became anchor of CBS Evening News in 1962, 12 years after joining CBS. Anderson must be quite the journalist.

with my Mom and Crowley was amazing -- whenever she anounced a state had gone to Bush, she was practically orgasmic, and when a state swung to Kerry she got this tight little smile on her face when she made the announcment.

She couldn't have been more obvious if she'd had a flashing "I suck GOP dick" sign over her head. :eyes:

It doesn't matter which Democrat. She appears quite eager to lump them together and inflict some sort of skewed language to misrepresent events or trends.

I would bet a triple-stack chocolate cake with fudge icing that she's a die-hard Republican.

Dems have been TRYING for 12 years to argue real issues. What we get from Reps are character assasination and smear tactics. Add to that endless red herrings about banning the bible, and forced abortion and gay marriage.

Policy talk? What policies have been offered by the right? Tax cuts for the wealthy, corporate welfare, gay marriage bans, endless war, deconstructing Social Security.....the list goes on and on.

George W. Bush needed terra, terra, terra and widespread election theft, and he STILL squeaked by with a the narrowest of "victories" (meaning, he actually lost twice).

So how does that translate into GOP and "Values Voter" invincibility, Candy?

My gosh! Paint broad brush strokes often? Harry Reid is pro-life, last I checked. And wasn't it Bunnypants who threw around the word "Amnesty" like Lucy with Charlie Brown's football?

She might as well thrown in something about "northeasterners", "lattes" and "Volvos". Sheesh.

"Too much policy talk" = ouch, it hurts my brain to actually THINK about an issue.....I'd rather just be visceral and talk about shallow Democratic stereotypes and GOP talking points.

How many times have folks here complained that the Party doesn't hit Bush & Co hard enough on the war, ethics, etc.? And, to be blut, we -are- too wonkish on discussing issues, when (sadly enough) the audience is looking for a simple thematic message.

I saw this clip at the Gym; she was talking about the politics of the election, not our ability to govern.

50. That is unacceptable
No one should mind when George Will talks like that on This Week, but Candy Crowley is supposed to be an objective reporter and all we should want from her is the facts, not her opinion.

The fact is that the Democrats are ahead big in every credible poll taken. Talking about how the Democratic party stands for for "acid, amnesty and abortion" doesn't explain why this is the case; she seems to be telling us why it shouldn't be the case.

If she wants to talk like that, she should move to FoxNews.

63. i must say Candy is rather taking up the whole screen these days...
but she's some four years late to this stale, tired old republican ass kissing party isn't she; as for Cafferty's comment i could see that if he were talking sci-fi or "my dog's bigger than your dog" commercials, cause she's completely of sync & step with the pulse out here imo

"Two: Too much policy talk"?!? oh really...

dems don't talk policy and CNN says dems don't have a plan so they now have what? to much of a plan? i've had a belly full of CNN trying to make an up/down, in/out, right/left, back/forth, salt/pepper dog fight out of a u.s. mid-term election Crowley & CNN both can take a flying leap so far as i'm concerned

68. Totally Useless As A Political Analyst, So Partisan In Her Views...
She has never said a kind word about anything Democrats have accomplished.
I always assumed she was hired by CNN to 'counter' real political analysis, since most of what she says is without independent evidence to support what she says.

The party of acid? Well I tell you what, Tubbahunny, I'd much rather be watching a nice LSD-generated mental television show than listen to you. It's bound to make far more sense anyway. Watch!

See? Made a lot more sense than anything Candy (what is she, a stripper?) ha said... ever.

75. Sorry, the truth hurts -- I'm glad she "de-euphemized" the reality
And in fact, I think she hated doing so. Afraid she might ruin the oldest GOP joke in DC: "Gosh, for a minute there I thought they might actually DO something."

It could even be that Jack "reworked" the copy himself for her to read, since he had the last word as editor on his special. The comment about her writing could have been a barb, or an olive branch.

But denial of reality only helps the Dem members of the DC/Euphemedia Analstocracy in their rationalizations for inaction.

And enabling them in this only helps the neofascists.

76. Media Matters has a writeup and video clip on this
CNN's Crowley dredges up anti-Democrat clichés, asserts: "If Democrats do sweep into power this year ... it will be through no fault their own"

Summary: During a segment that looked at the Democrats' prospects in the upcoming midterm elections, CNN's Candy Crowley devoted her report to reinforcing negative stereotypes about the Democratic Party promoted by Republicans and repeated in the media.

Reporting from Asheville, North Carolina, during the October 19 edition of CNN's The Situation Room, CNN senior political correspondent Candy Crowley presented a segment looking at the Democrats' prospects in the upcoming midterm elections that was devoted entirely to reinforcing negative stereotypes about the Democratic Party that have been promoted by Republicans and repeated in the media. For instance, Crowley asserted that Democrats have been "on the losing side of the values debate, the defense debate and, oh yes, the guns debate"; suggested that Democrats are out of touch with mainstream Americans because " Al Gore and John Kerry lost every Southern state and most of the mid- and interior West"; and aired only negative opinions of the Democratic Party, such as an Asheville resident who called the Democrats "losers." At no point during the segment did Crowley say, air, or quote anything positive about Democrats.

83. MMFA is excellent. I am disappointed in Cafferty.
I could not believe his failing to challenge anything she said, and then held all incumbents equally responsible for what he's unhappy about. Hey, Jack, who is in control of the White House and both houses of Congress--and your own network? I guess I'll return him to my "curmudgeon" category--someone who likes to attack just to get ratings, rather than someone who sizes up the evidence, draws appropriate conclusions, and demands answers and change.

That photo should be put out there as a role model for all
upcoming female journalists. Say, "some day, you could
become THIS!"

That should suffice to give anyone pause about following her
example.

Actually, my take is that she was always in the right's pocket,
but only Republican desperation has brought her to reveal "what
lies beneath," and it isn't pretty (in either interpretation).

89. I am sorry Ozzy, but
Candy Crowley, what went on in your head
Candy Crowley, did you talk with the dead
Your life style to me seemed so tragic
With the thrill of it all
You fooled all the people with magic
You waited on Satan’s call
Mrs. Charming, did you think you were pure
Mrs. Alarming, in nocturnal rapport
Uncovering things that were sacred manifest on this Earth
Conceived in the eye of a secret
And they scattered the afterbirth
(solo)
Candy Crowley, won’t you ride my white horse
Candy Crowley, it’s symbolic of course
Approaching a time that is classic
I hear maidens call
Approaching a time that is drastic
Standing with their backs to the wall
Was it polemically sent
l wanna know what you meant
I wanna know
I wanna know what you meant

Yes, the party of "acid, amnesty and abortion." Certainly Ms. Candy has a history as a Democrat, which her allusion to "acid" indicates. Perhaps an LSD experience-gone-awry turned her into the steaming-mad Republican goon she is today?

Why not "the party of heroin, healthcare, and homosexuals"?

Or "gays, gangsters and god-haters"?

Wow, what a great writer -- the "best writer in America", in fact, just like Cafferty said! AND a member of the "best political team on television", like Wolf Blitzer tells me!

94. hey! love that countebias website, and this one, in particular:
Interview with the teacher who compiled Bush's summer reading list. hilarious!

http://www.counterbias.com/739.html

How did you come to help the president with his reading choices?

I was approached by people working for the president. I was very happy to do it and, as I was not teaching summer school this term, I had the time.

Q: Why “The Stranger”?

A: “The Stranger” is a book I assign to all my students. It also fit in very well with both of the president’s two most important ground rules: That the books assigned be neither “too long” nor “too faggy.”

Q: Looking over the list as it currently stands, it seems to be weighted toward books that are normally first read in high school, as well as towards books about baseball. Are there any special reasons for that?

A: It’s quite refreshing that a man of the president’s age and station in life has remained down-to-earth enough to read with an open mind what some would characterize as “high school” books. Also, in fairness to the president, he attended Phillips Academy in Andover, MA (one of America’s premier boarding schools) in the early 1960s, before many of the works we think of today as staples of an American high school education became the mainstays on the syllabus that they now are.

For example, “The Catcher in the Rye” was only published in 1951. However, the president has expressed an especially keen eagerness to tackle that one, particularly since he found out its protagonist is a youth dismayed by the “phoniness” of an exclusive eastern prep school from which he has just been expelled.
