In Honor of Bush's Evaporating Support For "Stay The Course"
Edited on Sun Oct-22-06 02:40 AM by Leopolds Ghost
Reluctantly crouched. At the starting line.
Engines pumping... and thumping, in time.
The green light flashes, the guns recoil.
Churning and burning. they yearn for the oil.

They deftly maneuver. And muscle for rank!
Fuel burning fast on an empty tank.
Reckless, and wild, they pour through the slums.
Their prowess is potent, and secretly chums....

As they speed for the finish the flags go down.
The freepers get up and they get...out of town.
Iraq is now empty, except for one man...
Still driving, and striving, as fast as he can!

Well, the sun has gone down on Iraqi soil.
And long ago somebody left with the oil...but he's
still driving, and striving, and hugging the turns.
And thinking of someone for whom - he - still burns.

He's going the distance
He's going for speed.
We're all alone (all alone)
All alone in a time of need
Because he's racing and pacing and plotting the course,
He's fighting and biting and riding on his... horse.

No trophy no flowers no flashbulbs no LINE
He's haunted by something he cannot define.
Bowel-shaking earthquakes of doubt and remorse!
Assail him, impale him, with IED force!

In his mind he's still driving, still making the grade!
We're hoping in time that our memories will fade,
Because he's racing and pacing and staying the course.
He's fighting and biting and riding on his horse.

The moon has come up on Iraqi soil.
And long ago somebody LEFT with the oil, but he's
still striving. and driving. and hugging the turns.
And thinking of someone for whom - he - still burns.

Cause he's going the distance
He's going for speed
We're all alone (all alone)
Alone in a time of need
Because he's racing and pacing and staying the course.
He's fighting and biting and riding on his horse.

He's going the distance
He's going for speed
He's going the distance!

2. Another CAKE song... I Bombed Korea
I bombed Korea everynight
My engine sang into the salty sky
I didn't know if I would live or die
I bombed Korea everynight

I bombed Korea everynight
Oh, I bombed Korea everynight
Red flowers bursting down below us
Those people didn't even know us
We didn't know if we would live or die
We didn't know if it was wrong or right
I bombed Korea everynight

And so I sit here at this bar
I'm not a hero; I'm not a moviestar
I've got my beer; I've got my stories to tell
But they wont tell you what it's like in hell
Red flowers bursting down below us
Those poeple didn't even know us
We didn't know if we would live or die
We didn't know if it was wrong or right
We didn't know if we would live or die
I bombed Korea everynight... oh yeah, it's true.
