$100 million mail-order swindle
Ex-executives admit guilt in supplement scam
Thursday, January 26, 2006
Bill Sloat
Plain Dealer Reporter

Cincinnati- Americans were swindled out of more than $100 million by a mail-order operation in Ohio that sold over-the-counter herbal supplements and vitamin pills promising everything from slimmer bodies to better sex.

The pills probably worked best to separate people from their money.

<snip>

Berkeley's supplements and vitamins were supposed to ease stress, help melt away excess weight, boost energy levels, stave off forgetfulness, even enhance sexual encounters.

Those claims weren't backed by firm medical proof, and when people tried to get their money back, they usually couldn't, the former executives admitted.

Oh, but it's only big Pharma who are in it for the money. Companies that sell natural supplements are altruistic, and only want to help people.

2. There are supplement companies that have a 90 day satisfaction
guarantee, return the empty bottle with your complaint and you get a check.

Now tell me again how many people the supplement industry has killed or poisoned to death?? Please it must be a huge number.

Recently, another statin drug, Baycol, was removed from the market after causing at least 52 deaths. As a result, the safety of all statin drugs has subsequently come into question. While the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) maintains that Zocor causes considerably fewer adverse side effects than Baycol, the agency acknowledges that Zocor does pose some risk.

"FDA Regulators Request Atypical Antipsychotics Carry New Diabetes Warning"

September 18, 2003
The FDA has requested all six atypical antipsychotics, including Risperdal to include a new labeling warning. Links between the antipsychotics and diabetes have been concerning enough for the agency to issue letters to the drugs’ producers. The diabetes link had been made awhile back but the federal agency waited until further recent studies were performed. The drugs that will carry the new warning labels include; Risperdal, Abilify, Geodon, Clozaril, Seroquel.

A New York jury last week found pharmaceutical maker Warner-Lambert liable in a multi-million dollar lawsuit filed over the withdrawn diabetes drug Rezulin. Attorneys representing Concepcion Morgado alleged Warner-Lambert, which was acquired by Pfizer Inc. in June 2000, misrepresented the drug and "omitted material information about Rezulin to physicians, including Mrs. Morgado's physician." The Manhattan jury ordered Pfizer to pay $2 million in compensatory damages but no punitive damages.

3. greed is greed
corruption is corruption.
Falwall also claims to be altruistic,while he sent planes to check on the diamond mines he was feeding a few starving kids for jaysus too you know.

I look at this this way: There are con men and heartless thugs everywhere willing to take your money,and even sell you something harmful, whether it's selling drugs or herbs or water with more dust in it than serum,that's banged just so on a leather book. They all pander to the human need for social acceptance,to the need for self esteem,good health and the univesral desire to feel good in a world that is dying from our"sucess" and failure and a brutal confusing natural world and universe we only barely understand,that does not care about us or our well being personally and could destroy us all,because shit happens and we don't have all THAT much control..

5. Yes greed is greed... what modern medicine fails to realize, or
has failed to realize is that many things affecting people today are a direct result of toxicity, weakened immunity, and poor food choices. If there are products out there that can strengthen the body's own innate defense mechanisms, enhance detox and enzymatic pathways, offer added antioxidant protection, and provide materials such as the essential fatty acids which are not consumed in near large enough quantities in the country then I'm all for it. This is how I remain well and will continue to do so.

Lipoic Acid ---. BSG level control

Coenzyme Q10 ---> Liver and Heart

Pycnogenol ---> Histamine reduction, antioxidant protection

Omega Threes ---> Brain and Heart

Minerals ---> Just because

B-Complex ---> Control Homocysteine

Milk Thistle ---> Liver

If you don't think these items do what I have pointed out, there are volumes written on them to prove that they do... get one.

6. modern medicine
and vitamins herbs need to be used TOGETHER. They are tools not a friggin religion.
Some people are so over loyal and reacting against the percieved"enemy"sciences they don't understand or"like" so they tend to treat thier preferences for allopathic or wholistic medicine as a religion.
This has got to stop.Big pharma has hurt alot of people so has homeopathy and herbs.No medicine or practice is safe or pure 100% it all has RISK,and with all the hucksters,con men,liars and true believers so emotionally invested in thier various drugs and alternative treatments out there it will be very hard to sort fact from fiction on all sides of this issue.

7. Yes, herbs have hurt some people.... homeopathy I doubt unless
of course the person chose homeopathy over a proven therapy, traditional or no.

I have seen people get off 10 12, 15 medications and nutritionally support their endocrine system, their immune system, detox pathways and so forth. The side effects were that they felt better than they had in many many years. In the chapter on diabetes, in this very book, a 76 year old man was able to be completely removed from insulin injections through the use of glyconutrients. The second book has perhaps 18 fully decorated M.D.'s on the back cover stating that the discovery of the need for specific sugars in the body cannot be underestimated. I know this will sound foreign and probably ridiculous to you and I apologize for that.

As medical doctor and scientific researcher Emil Mondoa explains, these eight essential sugars, known as saccharides, are the basis of multicellular intelligence--the ability of cells to communicate, cohere, and work together to keep us healthy and balanced. Even tiny amounts of these sugars--or lack of them--have profound effects. In test after test conducted at leading institutes around the world, saccharides have been shown to lower cholesterol, increase lean muscle mass, decrease body fat, accelerate wound healing, ease allergy symptoms, and allay autoimmune diseases such as arthritis, psoriasis, and diabetes. Bacterial infections, including the recurrent ear infections that plague toddlers, often respond remarkably to saccharides, as do many viruses--from the common cold to the flu, from herpes to HIV. The debilitating symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, and Gulf War syndrome frequently abate after adding saccharides. And, for cancer patients, saccharides mitigate the toxic effects of radiation and chemotherapy--while augmenting their cancer-killing effects, resulting in prolonged survival and improved quality of life.

This is the best book I have read on subject of glyconutrients, written by 20 different doctors from their clinical use of glyconutrients and the results that have had with many different types of clients. This book would convince the skeptics about the health benefits of glyconutrients. This book is a must to read!

10. Only way I can keep 'em straight, one fat, one skinny
but I would not be surprised to hear Falwell had joined in the diamond mine/human rights violation business too. Thought I may have missed a news update. ;) Am sure he is not just relying on passing the plate for his bus fare.
