BEWARE GEORGE ALLEN (R VA)!
I can't say it often enough, folks. This guy is dangerous. He can portray himself as a reasonable facsimile of a moderate; but I have watched him through several campaigns here in Virginia, and on each occasion, after the election, he has swung HARD to the right, voting for every anti-choice, anti-gay, anti-gun control (this after promising to vote in favor of extending the assault weapons ban), anti-separation of church and state initiative that has ever come before him. 40 million plus Americans have already demonstrated their willingness to vote for an "aw shucks", half-bright, faux cowboy, bullshit artist. Allen is to the right of Bush but not quite as smart. Please, DO NOT let him fly under your radar.

3. That's my Senator!
This ought to give all of you out there who are mad at your Democratic Senators today some cold comfort.

Agreed, he's a major bullshit artist, always has that shit-eating grin on his face. Passed himself off as a moderate to get elected. Fancies himself a cross between Reagan and Bush.

I notice lately he's been getting major face-time demagoguing about this that and the other. The other day it was about mine safety Makes me want to hurl.

4. He was on Imus,..
Imus is not my favorite - but he tried to nail Allen on why a private hospital needs to be built for disabled Vets - we pay our taxes, why doesn't this administration care enough to give them the facilities they need.

Allen weaseled out - then Imus asked him if he had seen "Brokeback Mountain". He said, "No, but I've seen the March of the Penguins and The Chronicles of Narnia."

If thats not telling, nothing is.

5. Just heard him on Imus. He is a master at diversion. Imus,
who should have pressed him harder, let him get away with a completely off-topic ramble when asked a simple question: "Why should the people of the US have to come up with the idea to build a rehab center for fallen soldiers, and not the government. Why aren't our tax dollars paying for this?" Allen went around the world with his answer TWICE and Imus let him by...

Here is my thread on it.

You and I both know that he has been groomed as their next golden boy ( a brief Santorum hickup there a few years ago). He is perfect for them-a complete empty suit, haircut, and cowboy boots.

10. Good post, underpants.
I missed your thread the first time around. It reminded me of the days when Allen was the 4th string, walk-on QB at UVA (at a time when they were quite possibly the worst football program in Division I). I always remember that when he breaks out his shopworn football jock jargon. I feel that it is incumbent on we Virginians who have witnessed this asshat first-hand to spread the word.

11. Great article on Allen's football jargon
great in the sense that it is funny.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A1422-2005Feb5.html

Yeah he was fourth string on UVa teams that were barely above the club level but in the day when getting drunk in the stands was far more important than actually being on the team. I am looking to see if George posted any stats at UVa . The story I always heard was that he was a walk on (there were discussions about still asking him not to come back) so they kept him around. He never got into games even when Clemson or someone was wiping the field with them. They finally let him have his Rudy moment and there is a photograph of it somewhere-loooking for that too.

9. "Stay strong for freedom" thats how he said bye to Imus
that way of saying bye is enough for me to label him a simplistic radical

Almost as much as they love Alito and Bush. So, figure it out from there.
