Parents claim daughters strip-searched after theft accusations

PIKETON, Ohio (AP) — Parents claim a teacher at a southern Ohio vocational school strip-searched nearly two dozen girls from a nursing class over allegations that someone stole a credit card and money.

The girls were taken individually to a bathroom at the Vern Riffe Career Technology Center and forced to take off their pants, shirts and bras, parent Betty Grandstaff told The Columbus Dispatch for a story Thursday.

Grandstaff complained to the school's superintendent and another parent, Carol Knisley, said she contacted the State Board of Education because parents believe the girls' privacy rights were violated.

A message seeking comment about the parents' claim was left Thursday for Ohio Department of Education spokesman J.C. Benton...
