GOP Governor Draws Ire For Concentration Camp Joke
Gov. Draws Ire For Concentration Camp Joke

LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Oct. 20, 2006 (AP) - Republican Gov. Mike Huckabee drew criticism from a Jewish Democratic group Friday for jokingly crediting his 100-pound weight loss to a stay in a concentration camp.

Huckabee, who is considering a run for president in 2008, made the comment Wednesday on Don Imus' radio show after the host told him he looked “emaciated.”

“I have just come out of six weeks at a concentration camp held by the Democrat Party of Arkansas in an undisclosed location, making a hostage tape,” Huckabee said. “That's why I look that way.”

A spokesman for the National Jewish Democratic Council said Huckabee should apologize. “It's insensitive, and we think making light of the Holocaust isn't something any elected official should be doing,” said David Goldenberg, deputy executive director of the Washington-based group...

1. .
I don't want to be biased, but how the hell can that even be considered to be funny?
It's not only tasteless but also really stupid.
Oh I see, he is behind in the polls.

12. My letter to Gauleiter Huckabee

Governor Huckabee

I consider you an insensitive acting person for what you said about concentration camps.

You do not deserve to run or serve as president for remarks like this.

6 million of my people died and most of them died in concentration camps because of Adolf Hitler and his henchmen.

Hitler's henchmen forced many Jews to lose weight until they died.

You have just made a big mistake by equating your loss of weight to going to a concentration camp run by the Democratic party.

Do me a favor Governor Huckee, stop referring to my party as the DEMOCRAT party.

MY party gets called the DEMOCRATIC PARTY

If you don't refer to my party name properly I will call your party the REPUBLIKLAN Party.

Your run for the presidency has ended by making those remarks about concentration camps.

Bill Frist will not succeed as running for president either because he has killed cats and you will not succeed running for president because you mocked the suffering of 6 million people and then accused the Democratic party as doing this to you.

I have had enough of Republicans.

6. Not really, AK is set to elect a Democratic Governor this fall, Dem leads
by about 10-15% in the latest polls. Huckabee is retiring.

13. Good news. Huckabee is monumentally stupid
and would give Stevens a run for the money for the title of second stupidest man in power.

I'm sure he sees himself as a future president, too, since his party has such a stellar reputation for running empty suits who need carefully positioned "advisors" to tell them how to do everything.

10. but if you could see bone, and he wearing smelly rags...
that would cause unchecked merriment ..if huckabee had no teeth, and all his hair fell out, why, that's would draw guffaws from here to the floor!...if huckabee was leaking puss from rents in his joints, now that would produce a rotfl...if if...you get the idea...

11. Unchecked merriment from Republicans, perhaps
I don't even see a humorous link between "I lost 100 pounds" and "I was at a concentration camp". These people are just wired wrong.

Edited on Sun Oct-22-06 04:13 PM by KzooDem
He's a Republican from the south. What's not to understand? It surprises you that this man would say something in excruciatingly poor taste regarding Jewish history and think twice about it??

15. Cartman made a joke almost identical to this in one SP episode
It doesn't surprise me that Republicans think the Holocaust is funny. After all, they'd do the same thing to liberals if they could get away with it.

Edited on Sun Oct-22-06 05:04 PM by Hubert Flottz
very same GOPers who think that people like Mike Huckabee, might make a great president? Imas and Joe are big pals?

Mike Huckabee is one of the best that the GOP has to offer...

Mike Huckabee, Frist, McCain the torturer, they are the cream of the GOP crop.
