Tempting Faith: An Inside Story of Political Seduction David Kuo
David Kuo, who served President Bush as the Deputy Director of the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, writes in "Tempting Faith" that the Bush administration is not sincere about compassionate conservatism and, instead, is manipulating Christian conservatives for political gain. He charges that public funds allocated to the Office of Faith-Based Initiatives were used to finance Republican campaign events in 2004. Mr. Kuo, an evangelical Christian and a Republican, says he believes Christians should take a two-year "fast" from political causes and instead support charities that help the poor and the sick.
David Kuo served as Special Assistant to President George W. Bush and Deputy Director of the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. He has worked for numerous conservative leaders, including John Ashcroft, William Bennett, Jack Kemp, Bob Dole, and Ralph Reed. He is the author of "Dot.Bomb: My Days and Nights at an Internet Goliath. Currentlly, he is the Washington editor of the Beliefnet web site. David Kuo left the White House in late 2003 after a brain tumor and subsequent seizure caused to have a serious car accident.
