Right-wing comic strip continues lie about Abramoff paying off Dems.
About a year ago, my local newspaper added a right-wing propaganda comic strip named "Prickly City." Today's strip repeated the "Democrats also took money from Abramoff" lie.

http://www.ucomics.com/pricklycity/

This garbage is run next to "Doonesbury" on a page separate from the comics which is an insult. Gary Trudeau has always been an equal opportunity offender, ready to skewer any imbecile, Democrat or Republican. He also understands subtlety and has earned a Pulitzer Prize.

Unlike "Doonesbury," "Prickly City" is as subtle as a cannon and is just one more piece of the Republican noise machine.

Gotta' go write my letter to the editor.

2. But, it proves an important point
Its easy to debunk someone and completely shut them down when you lie your ass off.

3. Did you see it yesterday?
It was a jab at NOW, and it referred to when a "sexual predator was in the oval office."

Stantis is an extreme right-wing wackadoo, and mean to boot. More often than not he does the main political cartoon on the commentary page of The Birmingham News. He's so extreme that people often write in complaining even in this red, red state.

4. Yep, I saw it.
The Palm Beach Post is a relatively liberal paper and it's beyond me why they give any space to this wingnut to peddle his crap.

Not an easy task.

6. Let's not forget the most important thing about Trudeau
He's funny.

Your link is my first exposure to this strip. My initial impression is that it makes Mallard Fillmore seem downright hilarious by comparison.

7. Never heard of the strip, now I know why.
Decidedly un-funny, and heavy on the BS propaganda. Not the right combination for a successful comic strip. I'm betting that unless this strip is heavily subsidized(entirely possible, most RW media is) this strip will be gone within a year or two.

These folks need to take a long hard look at strips like Doonesbury or Boondocks, great models of how to combine politics and humor in a strip. Sadly, they seem to be following the Mallard Filmore school of strips, beating their readers over the head to get their point across, and leaving out the comic part of the strip.

10. Where the hell did the "80 Democrats" figure come from?
Edited on Thu Jan-26-06 10:00 AM by Rob H.
Oh, he pulled it straight outta his ass? Okay, then.

Seriously, does he mean money given to Democrats by some of Abramoff's clients? Getting money from Jack's clients--and the way I understand it, he directed them to give less money to Democrats than they had in the past--isn't the same as getting money straight from the man himself. Right-wingnuts remain stubbornly, willfully ignorant about that not-so-subtle difference.

OT: Just found this list over at Newsmeat.com. It has all of Abramoff's personal donations going back to 1992 and (no surprise) there isn't a single Democrat on it.

Edit: rpgamerd00d posted while I was writing mine. He answered my question. Thanks! :)

12. So he can continue is job as a paid "myth-maker". He has already
lied (the time when he claimed he found out about the convention centre). There are already two distinct stories on that.
