Just an idea (more of a fantasy)...

I say that all of us move to Hawaii. We haul our progressive friends, families and
neighbors with us and find an oasis in the sun and sand.

Then, we vote to secede--and we live in paradise until the fascist, warmongering thugs turn against each other and implode.

We could have our own government--with legitimate elections. No Patriot Act, no spying on citizens, no detention camps built by KBR, no federal deficit. Our government would respond with compassion and quickness if a hurricane--or other disaster--should happen. The poor would be lifted up, college aid would be plentiful, and the rich would pay their fair share. No more corporations owning us. We would respect the Constitution and the Bill of Rights--instead of trampling on it.

All of this---plus surfing, drinks with little umbrellas and the smell of coconut oil wafting in the breeze.

4. I have a fantasy.

I have a fantasy that everyone on DU goes out and gets involved with their county party, and gets their progressive friends, families, and neighbors involved too. That everyone sees just how much fun it is, and how fulfiling it is, to be involved as a citizen. That together we run for office or work for good candidates, and take our party back from the ground up, and take our country back from the ground up, and turn America into a force for good on the planet, rather than a force for evil.
