I haven't hit the send button yet. Thought I could use some feedback.
Lawbreakers can't appoint judges.
I am calling on both Florida Senators to vote down and filibuster the nomination of Sam Alito to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Judge Alito spent several days before the Senate Judiciary Committee evading and not answering questions. In his judicial record he has repeatedly ruled that individuals do not have the right to sue corporations to protect the environment, workers have no rights, and citizens have no reasonable expectation of privacy or due process.
Most troubling is his theory of a “Unitary Executive”, which grants the President the freedom to violate the law at will, and interpret the law at his whim, regardless of legislative intent. It’s not funny, but this nomination comes from a President who has admitted to breaking the law for years, and claims unlimited powers. Does the president think some of his crimes and overreaching power grabs will come before the court soon.
The only parallel I can think of is this is tantamount to allowing Saddam Hussein to pick his own judge and jury.
America, we are truly in crisis with this administration and this appointment.

2. Since the possibility of the "constitutionality" of illegal wiretaps might |
|
come up during Alito & Roberts' reign, shouldn't they recuse themselves?

5. I would cite Nixon's sense of unchecked power somewhere. |

Even without Nixon, it's a great letter.

6. Question mark at the end of your fifth paragraph... |
|
...maybe "criminals shouldn't appoint judges" would have more of the punch you want? To me, it seems OK as is.
