Please use the term Domestic Spying, not "Wire Tapping"
People, in our phone calls to Senators offices, the media, and communications between us and everyone else on the topic, I strongly urge we use the appropriate term of Domestic Spying rather than the use of the term wire tapping .

Wire Tapping is the BushCo term.. they don't want people to understand what the real concern at issue is. Indeed, it is Domestic Spying .

1. I kind of like 'warrentless wire taps'
It has an appropriate double meaning.

6. They are not using 'wiretaps'.
Google echelon. I agree with the OP. We are catapulting the propaganda when we refer to it as 'wiretapping'. That meme conjurs up FBI agents dutifully listening in on individual phone calls using bugs they plant and plays right into the 'we are only wiretapping suspects' meme.

The NSA monitors electronic communications: phone/cell/internet/etc. by interception at the switches that transfer these messages. The interception is WHOLESALE. They do not 'tap' 'suspects'. The collect everything going through a switch and analyze it for source/destination address and keyword content.

7. How about 'warrantless domestic spying' then?
To some it might seem silly to be playing around with semantics like this, but I don't feel that way. For example, we should never fall into the trap of referring to the 'Estate Tax' as the 'death tax'. Battles in the war of ideas are won and lost on fine distinctions such as these.

2. Actually, the BushCo term is "terrorist surveillance"
Call your grandma in Italy, your cousin in Ireland, and you could find yourself on a party line. Your kid calls from his European vacation, who's that tapping on your phone? Your brother calls you from Baghdad, and guess what--clickety click!

If we are going to call it anything, let's give it a three word punch: ILLEGAL domestic spying.

4. It this is true, but they reference the term wire tapping in media
the media is the mouthpiece for the fascists in power.

Always go back to Domestic Spying, whenever discussing the topic, so that the factual point does not disappear into the new fascists paradigm of promoting the acceptance of stripping away our Bill of Rights.

8. Think about all those poor little kids who have been writing the...
letters to Santa at the North Pole, because that, is probably a good enough reason, for Bushco's spies to go after them! Now the kid's entire family is probably studied under the hairy eyeball of Bushco inc. When this thing busts wide open and I believe in the end it will, I'm almost positive the fact will emerge, that the government has been spying on politicians and people like you and me, who had NOTHING to do with ANYONE overseas. What if you bought something on Ebay, from someone in the UK, or in Canada. If you did, you are probably being investigated right now.

BUSH LIES about everything he speaks about, so do you trust him on this PeeperGate thing?

If Bush is as guilty of this and all his other crimes as we all suppose he is, I pray to God, that it all comes out in the open for everyone to see. I'd love to see Shrub get to live out his life doing what he loves to do most...Cutting Brush...on Devil's Island along with Karl and the rest of the Bushco Bandits. I hope Chris, Tim, Wolfe, Billy O', and all the other ass kissers on TV, get to go and cover Bush's stay on Devil's island with the rest of the snakes and stinging, blood sucking, insects.

3. No, they use "Terrorist Surveillance Program" now.
The press releases, Limbaugh, Hannity, et al all started using it last Friday morning.

That's probably when the RNC 'blast fax' came in.
