The Worcester Wreath Co. of Harrington, Maine
I just received an email. It had better pictures than the site (linked below) has, but this is something to pass along to everyone before Christmas.

JFTR, giving your life in service of your country isn't a bad thing, in my eyes. It's being asked to give your life for a lie that bothers me.

Anyway, the Worcester Wreath Co. of Harrington, Maine, donates a wreath for EVERY grave at Arlington national cemetery. According to my email:

Readers may be interested to know that these wreaths -- some 5,000 -- are donated by the Worcester Wreath Co. of Harrington, Maine . The owner, Merrill Worcester, not only provides the wreaths, but covers the trucking expense as well. He's done this since 1992. A wonderful guy. Also, most years, groups of Maine school kids combine an educational trip to DC with this event to help out. Making this even more remarkable is the fact that Harrington is in one the poorest parts of the state.

Unless someone can give me a good reason not to, I'm buying my Christmas wreath(s) from this company, and I'm going to email them to tell them why.

I'll be damned if I'm going to give OUR flag to the GOP.

1. Very cool....thanks for posting.
I'm sure, knowing the rural economy up here in Maine, this is an important seasonal business for Harrington. Seems like a pretty generous man and doing a good service.

At the link I gave in the post, there's this when you click on the "wreaths across America" banner:

http://www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/

Check out the video.

It features Reagan speaking at the end, but it's really pretty good. Made me remember my father, who fought in WWII, and why he fought.

He was a good man, who would have been LIVID at the power the congress has handed the President. Suspension of habeus corpus??? No way "the Greatest Generation" would have tolerated that in their prime. Of course, they lived through the depression, too.

Like I said, I'm all for "the troops". It's our leadership I can't stand.

And I'll honor our fathers this Christmas.
