In stark contrast to the 2004 election results, the poll shows a highly competitive race. Ralph Hall has lost the majority of Texas 4th District voters for the first time since he was elected in 1980.

Hall (R)48%
Melancon (D)41%
Other 1%
Don't Know 10%

(Likely Voters; Margin of Error +/- 5.2%)

Ralph Hall (R) received 68% of the vote in 2004. He has lost 20% of his base and is dropping farther. At the beginning of this campaign, no political expert expected a major difference this election cycle. Tom Delay, with Ralph Hall's assistance, redrew the Congressional districts attempting to make the Texas 4th a "safe" Republican seat. The Texas 4th District isn't a safe seat anymore.

Tide is turning!! Any help is greatly appreciated to help turn this corner of Texas blue! www.MelanconForUSCongress.com

I think the more Texas goes blue, the bigger message to Bushites - We're not going to take it anymore!

2. Glenn is actually a DU'er
I got him to join--he doesn't post here much at all, but his heart is here.
He is a great guy and deserves to win this race.
I was in Texarkana this weekend and saw one of his signs and my county chair assures me I will have a sign in my yard this week.

13. Glad to be here. Glenn Melancon is a straight shooter.
We know him & heard him speak. Incredibly impressive speaker with a commanding grasp of the issues. He'll hold his own in Congress.

Consider volunteering on phone banks to GOTV. That's what I'm going to be doing for next 2 weeks.

3. Welcome to DU, TxBlue! And go, Mr. Melancon!
TX is so big; whereabouts is the 4th? And I agree, the more TX turns, the better.

8. Hell, other than Texarkana, never heard of 'em, and I live in TX.
That's like RI, MA, and NH, sort of, for those who wonder at the size of TX. And I'm probably stinting on the size.

7. I saw a lot of resolve in the early voting today
...in Ellis county.I hope this is a good sign...a lot of "working folk" voting early in my very neocon precinct.

9. I wonder if age is an issue in the campaign
Isn't Hall like 83 or something?

I've been to that district before: very Bible Belt.

10. From N. Mckinney to Red River Map Link in this post
The 4th Congressional District of Texas was represented -- though not as currently drawn -- by The Honorable Sam Rayburn, of Bonham, for fifty years. Let's take this seat back for Mr. Sam.

Hall's Democratic opponent is the stellar Glenn Melancon:

Vote for him right now if you live in the 4th ...

can.

... and help him in any other way possible if you

methinks...
Corruption with no good answers. http://www.heralddemocrat.com/articles/2006/10/19/local_news/news01.txt

It's outrage at what is happening in dc...
Concerning the Bible Belt - If Christians think of what christianity is about they'll vote out incumbents because the Bible doesn't support torture, pedophilia, sex slavery, sweatshops, etc. etc.

And the scandals just don't seem to stop.
