Rush: "I will bigly, hugely admit that I was wrong"
Edited on Wed Oct-25-06 07:02 AM by FLDem5
Like that matters to anyone. Don't start apologizing now for everything you have done that is wrong-headed or a lie - you will never be able to start, once you begin that list, you pig.

Limbaugh mocks Michael J. Fox political ad
Conservative talk show host accuses actor of faking Parkinson's disease

By David Montgomery

Updated: 1 hour, 27 minutes ago
Possibly worse than making fun of someone's disability is saying that it's imaginary. That is not to mock someone's body, but to challenge a person's guts, integrity, sanity.

<snip>
"He is exaggerating the effects of the disease," Limbaugh told listeners. "He's moving all around and shaking and it's purely an act. . . . This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn't take his medication or he's acting."

<snip>
"Now people are telling me they have seen Michael J. Fox in interviews and he does appear the same way in the interviews as he does in this commercial," Limbaugh said, according to a transcript on his Web site. "All right then, I stand corrected. . . . So I will bigly, hugely admit that I was wrong, and I will apologize to Michael J. Fox, if I am wrong in characterizing his behavior on this commercial as an act."

Oh wait - could this be a backhanded apology?

Then Limbaugh pivoted to a different critique: "Michael J. Fox is allowing his illness to be exploited and in the process is shilling for a Democratic politician."

Ass.

not a whole lot of folk out there don't like Michael J. Fox. I consider Mr. Fox to be an absolute treasure......as for Mr. Limbaugh, he really should not accuse ANYONE of "BEING OFF THEIR MEDS".

Yeah, damn Michael J. Fox for letting them "exploit" his illness by showing millions what Parkinson is really like and therefore trying to help finding a cure for it.

Your're right.

That's not a sincere apology. That's just chickenshit Rush mincing words.

Rush is not man enough to admit he was wrong. "If" my ass.

So, he's saying - "bigly, hugely, if".
Wow. Rush. You're a real man.

13. This, combined with maccaca, the TN ads, it is all starting to add up for many
I think lots and lots of people really are waking up to the fact that the GOP really in truly is THE PARTY OF HATE AND INTOLERANCE. After campaigning for years on division and fear and prejudice, and now all these hateful, hurtful ads and stories hitting the news every day, even many righties are starting to say "Jebus, I don't want to be associated with these hateful nutbags!" Will they carry that disgust with them into the booth, or will they retreat to their inner Republican once safely behind the curtain? We'll see soon enough. Maybe.

What a pig... my great grandfather had this same disease. The
medicine make you shake so your muscles don't freeze up completly. He lived until he was 83. The medicine only increased in dosage as the years wore on. I don't really know how hard it was for him or not. I was too much of a little girl to remember.. we just thought it was funny that he always seemed to be chewing on his tongue like it was gum.. and we loved going to his home because he lived in Greenich... and we could go to the beach and we always ate lobster.

16. Yeah, that Michael J. Fox is just shilling for a cure to his
terminal illness, one that he should not have to BEG for simply because the religious right wants to protect a spiritless frozen embryo over the lives of millions of actually suffering, LIVE human beings.

Rush (just typing that name makes me completely sick) is a pitiful waste of space, the lowest life form in the universe. What he said only makes it worse, in my opininon.

18. Remember Tom Cruise insulting Brooke Shield about her medicine? That proved
to be the last straw on his nuttiness. He did send her flowers and apologize later - because his comments caused such big trouble - not because he was really sorry.

Rush may have finally met his downfall. Criticizing someone with Parkinson's is not acceptable to the general public. All his political garbage won't do it - but I believe this will prove to be the end of Rush.

Unfortunately, the damage he has done will not go away and there are a thousand hate mongers just waiting to take his place :(

22. Isn't it just great how these bobbleheads say the most arrogant, crass,
and hurtful stuff. They get it spread all over the MSM, which dutifully swallows this crap and regurgitates it for a newscycle so everyone takes it in and accepts it as fact. THEN they come out and apologize or someone nails them to the wall on their lies AFTER the damage is done. What are the chances that Dumbo's apology gets covered anywhere? All that the masses will remember is how the TV told them that Michael J. Fox stopped taking his medication for attention. The damage is done and Dumbo wins AGAIN!

Dear Lord, plese send us some newspeople who can do a simple WebMD search and find out that tremors are a side effect of someone with Parkinson's taking their medication. Please? Please? Lord are you there? *sigh*

"Then Limbaugh pivoted to a different critique: 'Michael J. Fox is allowing his illness to be exploited and in the process is shilling for a Democratic politician.'"

How condescending is that? I think Michael knows damned well what he is doing, and for whom. "Allowing his illness to be exploited" WHAT CRAP. How do you exploit an illness, by collecting disability? By appearing in public and expressing your opinion? And look at the language, "allowing to be exploited" as if someone else is using him and he is naive.

"Shilling?" (I just tried to look that up, and it's not in the dictionary as a verb; tried schilling too. Unusual for a word in common usage not to be picked up). But I might infer that "to shill" for someone would involve monetary compensation, since all definitions of the noun relate to currency. I'm sure Michael pocketed a few bucks for his "performance."

:sarcasm:

33. I think he probably lost a large chunk of his audience
With this latest exhibition of hatefulness.
I wonder if Al Franken's ditto-head friend will come on the show this week and try to defend it.
Limpballs still managed to hold onto a core of ditto-heads after the oxycontin scandal - they forgave the hypocrisy and told themselves he had a problem and he'd gone through rehab.
But this is in a whole different league of nastiness and many of his core fans must have relatives with Parkinsons, or they may even be afflicted with it themselves.
As another poster said - I wouldn't wish Parkinson's disease on anybody - but in this case, karma would be very welcome.

Great comment by Wicket about the so-called exploitation of Fox. Michael J. Fox is not a child being coddled and exploited. He is a man who has made a decision to support a candidate and a cause.

"Rush Limbaugh, a fat, draft-dodging, drug addict -- jacking his maid up, having her buy dope for him -- That fat son of bitch, I mean, enough bad stuff can't happen to him," Imus said.
