Embryonic Stem Cell Challenge |
|
This one goes out to all the braindead lurkers out there who are against embryonic stem cell research on "moral" grounds:
Since you all feel so strongly against EST research then I am certain that when cures are found you will refuse them...correct?
When your child is afflicted with a horrendous disease that you could remedy, I am sure you will continue to watch your child suffer because after all, stem cell research is "murder"...correct?

they will pick and choose in the bible and come up with some obscure passage they will read sideways allowing them to accept the treatment that today they call murder.
I think those opposing stem cell research should sign a pledge stating they will never use any medical advances we get from such research.
I don't call them religiously insane for nothing.

6. Please help me here... |
|
I am a Catholic so I know all the arguments against embryonic stem cell research. I am currently NOT in favor of federally funding it.
What I want to know is this: why do embryonic stem cells hold more promise than adult or umbilical stem cells?
Thanks.

7. Embryonic stem cells are pluripotent. |
|
They can differentiate into any kind of cell. They're also easier to culture.
"I know all the arguments against embryonic stem cell research."
I do too. They're all full of shit.

continue to attempt to invent the lightbulb after the 500th failure? Because he had intellectual curiousity. Something lost on people who blather on about their love of life. People who find it much easier to believe stuff rather than knowing stuff. Stem cells used for research had/has no future as living beings just like teri schiavo had no way of having a normal life.
The fiscal issue is separate from any moral issue (a fake "christian" issue.) If you oppose the use of tax money for such research that is fine my fellow American. Do you approve of tax money used to kill innocent iraqis? Do you approve using tax money to support "faith based initiatives" (is hating gays faith based? Why yes it is!) which was offered by a liar for the sole purpose of getting the lunatic religious right to vote for him? I find the fiscal angle so flexible.

My daughter has been in the hospital since the beginning of July. Stem cells could possibly cure what she has.... in the future.
I had a frank discussion with her doctor about this and he said unfortunately there is still so much uncertainty with the use of stem cells, the biggest worry being that they could cause more infection when they are inserted into the body.
A day doesn't go by when I don't pray to G-d that * burns in hell for stopping medical research. Or that he will have to walk in my shoes, watching a loved one suffer like this.

5. my husband works with a fundie who is always trying to convert him |
|
I asked him, "if a cure for a disease your daughter had, was found using embryonic stem cells, would you refuse the treatment for her?"
He actually said "yes". But you should know that he hesitated a while, thought about it, and was not firm or sure in his answer, I think he just thought that if he said "no", he would seem like an incredible hypocrite.

9. Wasn't healing the sick a large part of Jesus' ministry? |
|
Supposedly, Jesus gave up his own life so that everyone else could live, and while this sacrifice is celebrated by the ritual called communion, where his followers eat his (symbolic)flesh, and drink his (symbolic) blood to "honor" this great noble sacrifice, we are told that this man would somehow be against stem-cell research. I don't get THAT. He gave up his LIFE, we are urged to be more like him, yet, it is somehow wrong to give up STEM CELLS so that the sick may be healed. Huh? I'll never understand that.
