AP-Judge-Sexual Assault URGENT
BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A judge in Vermont has changed his mind.
He's now imposing a longer jail term of three to ten years years on
a man who was originally sentenced to 60 days for sexually abusing
a child.

7. I have the same question
One theory I heard (not taking any responsibility for it) was the judged announced his intention at a pre sentencing hearing and did not actually imposed a sentence. Be interested to see what actually happened. His lawyers are probably a lovely shade of purple.

I disagree with the poster that the guy will violate and therefore be incarcerated. He should have gotten serious time up front.

Yes the talking head twits will take credit for this but remember it was not just the RW twits who were dissatisfied with the original sentence.

12. He will violate and has to be incarcerated?
So, he has to abuse another child for him to be locked up? Now, who wants to volunteer the kid so this guy can spend the rest of his life in prison?

5. It was and still is a life term given that the fellow will violate parole
in his class attending. This just sets up a fixed number of years up front.

Indeed I like it better.

But prior sentance was effectively life once he violated parole.

11. Considering that another child would have to be abused,
for this guy to violate parole, and don't think it's the same.

13. No - the violation would be "withing 500 feet" or "not attending shrink
class"

but I agree - I like this sentance better.

6. Joe Scarborogh
will take credit for that, do you want Scarborogh influencing judges on any level? What about double jeparody? I'm no sex affender defender but the law is the law, how can he go back on his ruling? This is the beginning of the end. The judiciary is lost. Hey, here's an answer, let's just appoint fucking Xians to all judgeships, that'd work, right?

10. That guy should have never been the judge to begin with, if he
does not believe in punishment.
60 days for sexually abusing a child? That is simply insane.

9. Change his mind? LOL.
The pressure must have changed his mind for him. I am sorry, but the judge that does not believe in punishment should not be a judge. Nothing is more ridiculous than that.

14. His sympathy toward the pedophile leads me to wonder about
his own tendencies. How else can he explain the inane 60 day sentence for child rape?

What a pig!
