Worrisome news at Electoral-Vote: Latest polls have R's retain Senate
http://www.electoral-vote.com/

See for yourself, it looks like it's coming down to MO, VA, and TN

For the House, based on their combo of available polls, and where none are available the 04 election results, the Dems take the House 228-205 with 2 Ties

1. Us taking the Senate was always going to be an uphill climb
We could still do it, but a lot of chips have got to fall our way.

2. Maybe ... but cloture votes will be impossible for the THUGs to
win assuming a united Dem minority. :)

4. We know the Senate will be very tight
There are not enough seats in play to go to an easy victory. Winning the Senate basically means we lose NO seats and we win nearly every seat available.

VA,MO, and TN are still a toss-up and have always been. We simply need to work hard on these seats. There is nothing else to do.

5. That's the plan
They're betting on losing the house by margin too big to steal, so they're trying to staunch the hemorrhaging by using the Senate as a firewall against anything the dems try to do in the House. Either we win neither, or we win only the House, but we ain't taking it all. Too much is at stake. War criminals and profiteers don't suddenly become upstanding, honest citizens just prior to the most important election in history.

7. The upside? If we don't take back the Senate in '06,
Edited on Wed Oct-25-06 08:28 AM by in_cog_ni_to
we WILL take it back in '08 when the House investigations reveal the corruption of the repukes. People will be APPALLED by what they learn, which is what WE DUers have known since 2000. The Senate will be ours to take. JMCPO

8. .

It has always been very hard to gain 51 or 52 seats.
The 3 mentioned states are more or less tied and VA doesn't look that bad. If the Repubs lose one of those 3, it's 50-50. That would be still a nice success for the Dems.

Anyway, in 2008 we have a way better chance to gain more seats as far more Gop seats are at stake than this year.
