WP - BREAKING NEWS: Bush, Cheney, Rummy, Rice to Deploy to Iraq

More U.S. Troops May Be Iraq-Bound
Bigger Force Among Options, Commander Says

By Karl Rove
Washington Post Foreign Service
Wednesday, October 25, 2006; Page A01

BAGHDAD, Oct. 24 -- The top American commander in Iraq said Tuesday that he may call for more troops to be sent to Baghdad, possibly by increasing the overall U.S. presence in Iraq, as rising bloodshed pushes Iraqi and American deaths to some of their highest levels of the war. President Bush immediately informed the commander, Gen. George W. Casey Jr., that he would don his old Armani flight suit and take command. "I'll be holed up outside the Green Zone, ready for battle - bring 'em on," the President said while clearing brush at his ranch in Crawford, Texas. Noting that Vice President Cheney would travel to Iraq after "finishing his other priorities," the President announced that Secretary of State Condolezza Rice and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld would also be deploying to Iraq next week. Rice would reportedly arrive in Iraq after being fitted in New York for several pairs of Ferragamo army boots with matching Kevlar gold buttoned suits.

"The Vice President and I have discussed this and we feel that this deployment is a necessary step forward in the War on Terror and will demonstrate that the insurgents are in their last throes," said the President. "That's why Don, Con, Dick and me gotta be there - just so it is clear and they don't mis-underestimate us - to show we mean business and to show Iraq can be a place where human beings and fish can coexist peacefully."

more . . . ? no more. . .
