Clark on Fox: The Bravest and Best Move the Dems Made? |
|
If Dean's 50 state strategy is a way to reach out beyond our normal, comfortable constituency, what can be made of Clark's sacrifice in being on Fox?
My opinion is that it was a deeply intelligent and important move that may very well be responsible for more people switching to our side than will ever be fully recognized. If Clark were not on Fox, think of all the unchallenged statements that a Hannity might make with no real Dem opposing them.
Wes is a very likable guy, obviously intelligent and certainly with credentials that can't be dismissed by anyone WRT war. My gut feeling tells me he has done us a great service by his self-imposed exile on Fox.
He deserves thanks. He has done his duty quietly and maybe achieved more than any of us did screaming at the other side.
Thanks, Wes!!

1. He encourages Dems to call RW talk shows |
|
Can't say I have done that though.

2. I think he keeps Dems in the picture in general |
|
He keeps our "story" alive and presents it in an appealing way to (even) the Fox crowd. He is tremendously undervalued.

4. "Brave" might be an exaggeration. |
|
He gets paid to be on Fox.
Some people have lost their jobs because they have tried to pursue the trust the last six years. That's brave.

5. OK. Fair enough. But he was putting his rep as a dem on the line... |
|
He was already mistrusted enough by some among our party. Know what I'm saying?

6. Clark handed O'Reilly his arse in that segment |
|
... and hopefully shook a few more sheep loose, between either ...
> O'Reilly's disrespectful, snide retort to Clark's "I call it diplomacy" correction: "You can call it whatever you want, General. You're still moving your lips."
-or-
> Clark getting O'Lielly to admit, after Billo criticizes George Soros, that Billo hasn't actually read Soros' book. Billo: "I've read portions of it. I've read parts." (The jacket cover doesn't count, Billo!)

7. It was a brave and wise move... |
|
And he's probably accomplished more by it than we'll truly know...and certainly more than some will ever give him credit for.
Luckily for us all, he's a true patriot, one who looks not for credit but for results. It's good to have him out there fighting for us.
