Bush's recent actions and words leave me frustrated and nervous
I'm finding it really hard to articulate why.

Frustrated because he has been so stubborn about Iraq, not wanting to change the strategy, not wanting to deliver the truth about anything involving Iraq, etc., etc. and now that his party is taking a beating on Iraq with the mid-term elections coming up, all of a sudden he's Mr. Flexible.

All of a sudden, he's open to change, open to hearing other ideas, etc., etc.

I know it's all politics, a last ditch attempt to save his party this November but it's frustrating that a man who says that he doesn't listen to polls all of a sudden is changing his policies based on the polls.

Is anyone else insulted by his tact? I mean, I'm happy that he's looking (or at least giving off the appearance of looking) at Iraq differently but that's only because of the elections. If the GOP was riding golden, he'd still be "staying the course".

It's just so aggravating to me. "Hey, in order to save my party's political power, I'm going to change". What an insult.

And that brings me to why I am nervous. I am nervous because there is probably a good portion of voters who were looking for any excuse to vote Republican this November and now they have it because this asshole is pandering at the last minute.

Sorry, I just needed to vent that. Not sure if it makes any sense but if you got this far, thanks.

1. Most of middle America will listen to portions of today's media
event and respond with a "too little too late" shrug of the shoulders.

Just got off the phone with my formerly Repup sister. She is actually proud of the fact that her very red state is trending blue. This is a sea change in her attitude from a year ago. The truth is - she had not really been paying attention. She still considers herself a Repub - but she wants everything in her state and in the country to turn upside down.

2. I hope so...
...I'm hoping most people will see it for what it really is, last minute pandering to save his political skin.

3. I'm not scared about his meaningless words...It's rigging the vote!!!
He lost in 2000
He lost in 2002
He lost in 2004
He lost in 2006........

And they miraculously fix their wins!

Annnnd......People like Kerry don't contest the robberies!!!

Something has got to stop these thugs!

4. Yes. You hope people don't confuse a feeling of "relief * acknowledges
Iraq needs change" with liking Bush or his policies.
