Dean says the president is adapting his rhetoric as polls drop

near Election Day.

http://releases.usnewswire.com/GetRelease.asp?id=74990

"WASHINGTON, Oct. 25 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean issued the following statement in response to President Bush's press conference this morning and his administration's failed policies on Iraq:

"Unfortunately, the President made it clear that he intends to stay the course with his permanent commitment to a failed strategy in Iraq. What the President doesn't seem to understand is that this is not a political crisis. This is a foreign policy crisis that requires more than adapting his rhetoric in response to falling poll numbers as Election Day nears. Our troops, their families and the American people deserve better. We want to defeat the enemy in Iraq and keep America safe. But, the Bush Administration's failed Iraq policy is feeding terrorism, not fighting it. Democrats offer a new direction in Iraq that acknowledges the facts on the ground and includes a phased redeployment of our troops so we can better fight and win the war on terror."

2. "so we can better fight and win the war on terror"
THAT is a great message that should be a Dem talking point getting drilled into the masses' heads. *'s policies have failed miserably and many of the people who have supported him so far are ripe for the picking with a strong message that WE know how to "win" the WOT.

6. He gets it! DUHbya finally gets it!
He gets the fact that the American people think his policies are failing miserably.

Now all DUUUUUHbya needs to do is explain his policies more clearly, more often, and more forcefully until we finally figure out that he's the savior of freedom and democracy and God's messenger and deliveryman.

8. Great, Powerful message. But who heard it?
It won't be read on any MSM cable or network station. Chris Matthews and all others will still pepper the next Dem guest with the question, "Why don't the Dems have a strategy?"
They will invite the DLC types on to agree that the Dems need to come up with a message.
They only invite Gov Dean on for very short question and answer periods so they can dodge the charge that they are not fair and balanced.

These guys must figure out a way to make these people report what on both sides.

10. I was just thinking the same thing.........
Edited on Wed Oct-25-06 03:25 PM by ClintonTyree
now if Ken Melmac said anything about "*"'s thoughts on the situation in Iraq, it would be all over Yahoo and Google News, he'd be a guest on CNN, MSNBC and FUX all at once and every major newspaper in the nation would be quoting him. Howard Dean says it and .........cickets chirping..........nothing.

It's a good thing the liberal media has become more fair and balanced over the years. The Republicans can finally get their message out. :sarcasm:

9. DNC - please take this message to TV
Joe 6 pack gets his information from the tube rather than reading - you have to broadcast the message again and again to counteract the coming tidal wave from KKKarl.

11. Framing: Bush or Republican is Reactive or Bush is Reactionary

ala George Lakoff, frame the issue this way:

Bush is only Reactive.
Bush or the Republican (candidate) is Reactionary.
Bush and the Republicans are "running away from Stay The Course".

and don't forget that Bush and the Republicans keep defining downward "Mission Accomplished in Iraq".

12. You know what the media story line will be..
If the dems win, Howard Dean will recive no credit. so far in the media the responce to "who would be seen as the arcitecht of a democratic victory?" has been "Mark Foley." So I think we will see the media saying "the dems survived despite Dean's wild left wing tirades." If the dems fail to take both houses it will be seen as a failure and that it would have been a sweep had Dean not been in charge. if, as the trends seem to be creeping towards, the republicans hold both, the media will scream for his head.

I say they are just afraid to lend credit to a man unfraid to be labeled or torn down, a man who speaks truth to power.

Be Vigilant.
