DAMN RIGHT DEMS HAVE A PLAN FOR IRAQ! WWW.PLANFORIRAQ.COM
Senator Joe Biden on NBC Today Show this morning announced it. The Democrats have a SOLID and DEFINITIVE plan for Iraq.

Republicans on the other hand only have "we won't leave until the job is done" which is the same exact thing as "stay the course." A vague, failed policy that will only result in more American deaths, increasing civil war, and a sinking morasse of failed foreign policy.

Republicans got us into this mess and now they're trying to escape their responsibility. But DEMOCRATS have a plan, and here it is.

From www.planforiraq.com:

BIDEN-GELB PLAN FOR IRAQ

President Bush does not have a strategy for victory in Iraq. His strategy is to prevent defeat and to hand the problem off to his successor. As a result, more and more Americans want to bring our troops home immediately, even at the risk of trading a dictator for chaos and a civil war that could become a regional war. Both are bad alternatives.

There is a third way. Leslie Gelb, President Emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations, and I have proposed a five-point plan to keep Iraq together, protect America's interests and bring our troops home.

Sectarian violence among Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds is now the major impediment to stability and progress in Iraq. No number of troops can solve that problem. The only way to hold Iraq together and create the conditions for our armed forces to responsibly withdraw is to give Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds incentives to pursue their interests peacefully. That requires a sustainable political settlement, which is the primary objective of our plan.

The plan would maintain a unified Iraq by decentralizing it and giving Kurds, Shiites and Sunnis breathing room in their own regions - as provided for in the Iraqi constitution. The central government would be responsible for common interests, like border security and the distribution of oil revenues. We would secure support from the Sunnis - who have no oil -- by guaranteeing them a proportionate share (about 20 percent) of oil revenues. We would increase economic aid, ask the oil-rich Arab Gulf states to fund it and tie all assistance to the protection of minority rights and the creation of a jobs program. We would convene a regional conference to enlist the support of Iraq's neighbors and create a Contact Group of the major powers to enforce their commitments. And we would ask our military to draw up plans to responsibly withdraw most U.S. forces from Iraq by the end of 2007 - enough time for the political settlement to take hold.

The course we're on has no end in sight. This plan can allow us to achieve the two objectives most American share: to leave Iraq without leaving chaos behind. I hope you will take the time to read the plan and endorse it by adding your email address to our list of supporters.

Thank you,

Joe Biden, U.S. Senator (D-DE)
Ranking Member, U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee

1. "Well, yeah, but what's the Democrats' plan?"
No matter what they propose, the other side and the corporate media will continue to demand that Democrats come up with a plan.

4. Democrats adopted the Murtha plan a while ago.
There were press releases about how we are "united" on Iraq and the media IGNORED it.

5. and we should say, "that this administration lied us into war, they have lied
about the reasons we went to war, they have lied about the conditions on the ground, etc. etc. The reason this adminstration criticized the news coming out of Iraq was because they wanted to continue to mislead the American public about what was really going on. Because of all these lies and misdirections we need to elect a Democratic congress so we can start to find out the truth. We need to find out the truth about the conditions on the ground, we need to find out the truth about why Halliburton and oil companies are recording record profits while our troops do without the proper body & vehicle armor. We can't commit to a plan until we know the truth and truth isn't something that this administration doesn't want you to know.

6. Back in 2003, when Clark had a speech on HIS plan for Iraq, WH preempted
him by a W speech on Iraq. The usual dribble, but sucked any coverage from Clark. Just a typical day in "toxic politics" and the media that enables them...

7. Slavery supporters used to press abolitionists for a plan too
Here's a plan: stop this immoral war that was premised on lies. Get the fuck out of there, ASAP.

I think Iraqi's are tired of our big "plans" for their country.

8. It might be wise to let the Iraqis make their own "plans".
Seeing as how it's their country and our various "plans" have killed 655,000 of them. Perhaps the survivors of our "help" might be able to run their own country.

But, of course, since we've established "democracy" there, we are obliged to occupy and run said "democracy".

9. bingo
that shuts them up pretty quickly. Especially when you mention that 60% of Iraqis support attacks on U.S. troops, and that an overwhelming majority of Iraqis want us out of their country quick.
