Tonight (10/25) on Countdown w/Keith Olbermann
from his email list:

In a somber, pre-election review of a long and brutal war, President Bush conceded Wednesday that the United States is taking heavy casualties in Iraq and said, "I know many Americans are not satisfied with the situation" there. "I'm not satisfied either," he said at a speech and question and answer session at the White House 13 days before midterm elections. The president reminded those at the news conference that an independent panel of Republicans and Democrats, led by former Secretary of State Jim Baker and former Congressman Lee Hamilton, is "taking a fresh look at the situation in Iraq and will make recommendations to help achieve our goals."

U.S. and Iraqi forces raided the stronghold of a Shiite militia led by a radical anti-American cleric in search of a death squad leader, but the deadly operation was quickly disavowed by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. Al-Maliki, who relies on political support from the cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, said the strike against a figure in al-Sadr's Mahdi militia in Sadr City "will not be repeated." The defiant al-Maliki also slammed the top U.S. military and diplomatic representatives in Iraq for their Tuesday news conference at which they said his government needed to set a timetable to curb violence ravaging the country. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad said al-Maliki had agreed. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15409870/

In a radio interview today with Sean Hannity, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld confirmed that the Bush administration isn't planning to shift its strategy. Rumsfeld called media reports about Bush's reversal "nonsense," and said "of course" Bush is "not backing away from staying the course."

Conservatives came to the defense of talk radio host Rush Limbaugh over his accusation that actor Michael J. Fox's appearance in a political ad about stem cell research was "purely an act." ABC talk radio host Sean Hannity told "Good Morning America" that Fox deserved to be criticized. "Michael J. Fox admits now that he stopped taking his medication prior to testifying before Congress," Hannity said. "You have a right to speak up, but he also has a right to be criticized." Limbaugh apologized after his listeners clued him in that Fox was not acting, but some Democrats say the conservative radio host didn't seem sincere. http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=2604633

Madonna said the 13-month-old boy she plans to adopt from the African country of Malawi is healthy and thriving in her London home, in an interview that aired Wednesday on "The Oprah Winfrey Show." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15405681/

Alabama Libertarian runs for governor on boobs vs. boobs platform. Loretta Nall, the Libertarian Party's write-in candidate for governor of Alabama, is campaigning on her cleavage and hoping that voters' eyes will eventually refocus on her platform. "It started out as a joke, but it blew up into something huge," Nall said. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15392890/

That's some of what we're planning for tonight's show.

1. So, they are floating the possibility of "changing course" for two reasons:
1. The dems might have power and they'll be forced to make changes

2. idiots may vote for them again under the false pretense of a change in direction

Should be an interesting "shew."
