ABC News Political Director Tells O'Reilly: Media Has A Liberal Bias...
Yesterday, Mark Halperin, ABC Political Director and co-author of the new book The Way To Win, went on The O’Reilly Factor and agreed with Bill O’Reilly that members of the “old media” are too liberal and should “prove to conservatives that we understand their grievances.”

When O’Reilly pointedly asked him if he believed major news organizations — including ABC — had a liberal bias, Halperin repeated the right-wing talking point that the media is trying to suppress Republican turnout. He told O’Reilly, “If I were a conservative, I understand why I would feel suspicious that I was not going to get a fair break at the end of an election. We’ve got to make sure we do better, so conservatives don’t have to be concerned about that.”

of the 2004 election. As if his praise for Drudge's tactics to lie often before the truth has a chance, was somehow a novel innovation by the Bush campaign.

2. What exactly is a "liberal bias"?
Liberalism, by its very definition, welcomes diversity, encourages fairness, and believes in mutuality.

Don't we want media that are "biased" in these ways?

5. Liberal bias=not submitting articles to a GOP propoganda censor
before they are aired. Check out any site that discusses liberal bias in the media and you will see that what they object to is reporting solid news which has not been censored by the equivalent of a fascist Bureau of Propaganda. For instance, the results of a scientific study linking air pollution to lung canger is "liberal bias" if you do not give the owners of the local coal powered electricity plant an opportunity to refute the findings in the article with some pseudoscience that is unproven. On the other hand, if the GOP expresses an opinion about something, say that video games cause crime, and the press asks an experts opinion, that is liberal bias.

I promise you, this rule of thumb ALWAYS works.

3. Disney sold its soul to the FCC so that its cable channel would stay
in all homes with cable (google the a la cater controversy to see how the FCC and GOP Congress including McCain and Stevens conspired to back Disney into a corner). The chiefs of all ABC divisions including its news division are going to be GOP whores, just like the bosses at Disney.

The good news for Democracy is that the rank and file reporters at ABC News seem to have been so outraged by the Path to 9/11 that they are working overtime proving that it does not represent their editorial bias. The Mark Foley Scandal is just one of several pieces of fine investigation journalism that they have done this fall to strike back at the White House for what it did to ABC's reputation.

But yeah, it sounds like this Halperin guy knows who gives him his bonuses.

Inside the beltway darling, a bushbot masquerading as an objective newsperson. What is an ABC exec doing on Faux anyway?

6. If the right hates bias so much
then why do they flock to overly-bias Fox?
