I think Tweety is more complex than that. On one hand, he's been richly rewarded for being a GOP shill for General Electric. He's had no problems in the past propping up a boy king and trying to sell the empty suit to the American public.

On the other hand, I think there's a part of him that views himself as some Good Catholic Boy and there's a depth to the gutter that even he won't climb down into - witness his distaste for Cheney that goes back to the first (stolen) administration, his problems with the war in Iraq, and things such as the Fox controversy and racist Republican ads. When he spins like a top on some issues I think it's because he's pulled between the $$$$ he's given for being a presstitute and perhaps a tiny bit of conscience that his self-image as some kind of altar boy gives him.

Not to go too deep on a subject as trite as Matthews, but I don't think *all* of his outrage is faked - most of it, perhaps, but not all.

Once at the beginning of the show and again when he was questioning Tony Snow and Snow said he hadn't seen the ad - Tweety must have been ready cause he said "Well here, let me show it to you"....Snow saw nothing wrong with the ad - just politics, nothing racist....Yeah, right!
