Who are these people coming out against stem...
cell research? Someone from the Cardinals? The wife from "Everyone Loves Raymond", Mike Sweeney of the Royals (who?) and Kurt Warner? I mean, aren't all of these people "hollywood types"? How dare they? This shit won't fly

1. They need a GOPer with Parkinsons to truly rebut
Find someone who actually needs to research to campaign against it. MJFox isn't speaking as a celebrity but as a patient.

So sick and twisted. They are past shame. :grr:

6. Why are we blocking the happieness of man, because of a mythical story?
this is shocking.
A medical research aspect that can pave the way for the possibility of VARIOUS cures is being stone walled.. and why?

religion.

f'n religion..... Something mythical that drifts by words is blocking mankinds ability to heal ailments that cause us suffering.

Why is religion so damn important in todays world.
Surely even the most faithful of followers has to admit, that all within the bible is able to be scientifically debunked, or even passed as chinese whispers?

The bible is a great story, but thats all it is.. a story.
and im shocked that fellow man feels he needs to stop medical cures because of a story he read.

Why do we need religion in this world?
Look at the death, destruction and suffering it has caused the world over since it was implemented?

Why cant we look at each other as HUMAN BEINGS.
As living organisms that care for our childeren and our future and would rather love, and live, than prey and live in fear?

Dividing the world on religion is going to be the end of our civlisation.

I hope in the next world, after we have deposed of Corporate control, religion and the bush family era... maybe we can live in peace, love and cherish our childeren like human beings should.

This is just another case of finatical religous belief hindering mankind.
You dont have to be muslim to be a finatical religous follower..
clearly, it runs in the christian faith as well.

8. I agree with you....f'n religion
I understand most people need a crutch because they cannot face reality but it's too much when they force their delusions on the rest of us

14. and the ad is so stupid - "It will be FIFTEEN years before any cures. . ."
as if 15 years is a long, long, long time in the area of medical research. How dumb can you get? Can't people add up to what age they'll be in 15 years? Or how old their kids would be? Voting against something because medical science might take 15 years to make it worthwhile is just ignorant and shortsighted.

16. whats the diff?
Logically what is the difference in the two

1. Siting back and watching a known murder take a pistol from the draw, chant about how he's going to murder the kid next door, and watching him leave the house only to hear a gun shot.

2. Sitting back watching a disease kill thousand of people.

In both cases, you could of atleast ATTEMPTED to help them.
stop the man with the gun
or
STOP THE F'N DISEASE!

why is religion getting in the way of this?

once again, GWBush you are a disgrace!

10. Why?
You'd think a man who preaches love and peace wouldnt decide 'revenge' on someone by making them suffer would you.

Kidna defeats the whole love/peace aspect.

I heard something long time ago and, It made sense to me.. depending what you believe.

If you did something serious in your life, IE Rape, Murder.. something just as degrading to another human.. in your next life, your struck down from birth.. as revenge on your souls actions.

Id like to think thats why.. but you'd have to believe in re-incarnation

IF GOD Can allow us to suffer from diseases..
surely he can allow us to find cures for them..

5. Well at least now the right-wingers can't whine about Hollywood
liberals speaking their minds about political topics because *now* the right-wingers have their own contingent of (practically unknown) Hollywood actors speaking out on political topics.

7. Wait a cotton pickin'
Didn't rush go off the deep end because a Hollywood Type came out for stem cells.

And I can't understand people. I wish one of those S.O.B.'s would need the benefit of stem cell research. And then we could say hey...not for you. Their excuse is it is a front for cloning. I guess baseball players do have IQ of 10, but how about the woman from Raymond.

11. 'but how about the woman from Raymond'

Political advocacy
Heaton has acted as a spokeperson and advocate for conservative issues. She has been particularly supportive of pro-life groups and causes. She is a Republican and supporter of both President George W. Bush and the Iraq War.

Heaton's advocacy, particularly regarding right-to-life issues, became most publicly visible during the debate regarding Terri Schiavo.

Heaton is also part of several other organizations:

She is the honorary chairperson of Feminists for Life, an organization that opposes the practice of abortion. Heaton is an active supporter for the nonprofit world-hunger organization Heifer International. On her website she mentions giving Heifer International gifts to the cast and crew of Everybody Loves Raymond.
She was once quoted as saying "once a Catholic, always a Catholic"; however, Heaton now attends an evangelical Presbyterian church with her husband and their four sons. She has not left the Catholic Church nor converted to Presbyterianism.
On October 24, 2006, Heaton appeared in a commercial opposing a state constitutional amendment that protects embryonic stem cell research, but outlaws human cloning. Opposition to the amendment derives from the belief that the amendment has nothing to do with embryonic stem cell research and will ultimatley legalize cell cloning. The ad was a response to Michael J. Fox's ad supporting the research. Appearing with Heaton were actor Jim Caviezel, Jeff Suppan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Mike Sweeney of the Kansas City Royals and Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner, formerly of the St. Louis Rams.

13. Give her a heapin' helpin of "fuck the fuck off. please!"
And keep your fucking religious bullshit to yourself. If you don't want stemcell research, don't use it to cure a disease that you may get in the future. I mean, I don't think this country should have football stadium sized superchurches all over the country living tax free and trying to control our government, but I'm not making commercials trying to shut them down. Fuck you lady!

19. Well it's true science is not necessarily fast
And it is also possible that stem cell research will not pan out in the end for a lot of things but it shows the most promise for several diseases. To just close off avenues of research like this is just plain ignorant. These people will never see the light UNTIL and UNLESS it happens to them.

20. Agreed
That seems to be the consensus (sp.?) That commercial couldn't come even close to capturing the emotion that MJ Fox's had. I think it's funny that MJ did a spot for Arlen Specter two years ago and nobody said a thing then.
