18 July 2000
Canadian-born Michael J. Fox has followed in the footsteps of Welsh-born actor Anthony Hopkins by swearing an oath and becomingan American citizen The actor who recently left his hit TV show Spin City to campaign for Parkinson's Disease, which he suffers from, has found it very difficult and has been "greatly bothered" by living in America but not being able to vote. Fox, who has lived in Atlanta, America for 20 years and whose wife and children are all American citizens, secretly swore the oath of allegiance earlier this year and is now reportedly looking forward to voting in the next general election.

1. okay, let me guess--the latest bs is that he doesn't have a right
to speak up because he isn't a citizen?

4. Too bad for them, no chance to apply the MCA and have
the guy brought down to Gitmo - he's no longer one of those subhumans that non-Americans apparently are.

7. So, how would that apply to Schwarzenegger?
After all, he's not a natural born citizen.

3. Of course.
And not being a born US citizen, the rightwingnuts will totally ignore the fact that MJF has been a US citizen for several years.

And if MJF had been a born US citizen, they'd still be the cruel nasty little fucks they are and find something else to attack him with.

15. yes he has been a citizen for a number of years
Edited on Fri Oct-27-06 12:54 AM by pitohui
he has given a lot to this country, he chose to be a citizen of this country, and he has a right to the privileges of this country including free speech

if he were an opportunist he would have remained a canadian with their guarantee of health care no matter what happened to him or his family financially -- and don't say stars don't worry about money, anyone can lose their money or or manage it badly or be sued, ask willie nelson
