Confirm Alito
The people of this country WILL NOT WAKE UP until the nation swings even further to the right. We will not be able to take the house and senate back simply through Republican failures and corruption, we will only return government to the people when they REALIZE that this daliance with fascism that they are having is wrong.

Call it tough medicine, but an Alito on the bench rendering right leaning decision after decision will force the electorate to wake up and reject the right wing agenda and express that electoarally by giving us majorities back in both houses. Until then expect this 50/50 split in the electorate to continue to benefit the corporatocracy that promotes it.

4. That was why
Ralph Commie Nader took contributions from W, and did everything to destroy Gore, in the 2000 presidential race.

His plan worked too well. I'm never forgiving that commie.

10. I voted for President Al Gore in 2000.
Sadly, Bush stole it and Americans overlooked it.

..and yes, Nader is just a petty opportunist.

I was more optimistic in 2000.

15. Commie is not an acceptable term.
Nader has done a lot of good and some bad for this country. However, I'm pretty sure he has never been a member of the Communist Party.

And even if he had, that wouldn't change the fact that it's a slur that was used by people to paint those they disagreed with as unamerican.

2. NO -

Do not confirm Alito....

I am not going to let that happen without a fight.

So, if you aren't going to fight, just keep quiet.

5. What a dumb idea.
Nader said that America needed a provocateur in Bush to swing it back to the left. We see how well that worked out.

The notion that Republican success is necessary or desirable to set up Democratic success is so poorly thought through that it really calls into question the intelligence and goodwill of anyone saying it.

Maybe Alito will issue a decision against saying dumb things on the Internet. The First Amendment will be compromised, but at least it will save us from posts like this.

7. Not me.
I just contacted both Tim Johnson and Ben Nelson about saying they will vote for Alito. Said they need to rethink their positions and remember who put them in office.........democrats.

17. Actually, you're completely wrong.
I believe it was South Dakotans and Nebraskans, respectively, that put them into office. Both groups put Bush into office by a WIDE margin and are actually quite likely to support Alito. Heaven forbid an elected official represent their constituents.

8. I am almost to that point... I feel like I'm working my ass off to stop
the second coming of Nazi Germany, and most of the rest of the country doesn't care enough to even see what is going on.. I am almost to the point where I say- "Give them what they voted for.. Give them what they deserve.."

There is a part of me that feels for the others that will have to suffer as a result of this madness, but I completely understand what your saying.. I feel like we aren't going to get anywhere until people understand just how bad it is.. I'm also pretty sure that the votes were not counted correctly, but by the same token so few are really trying to do anything.. I don't want people to suffer, but I don't want what is happening right now either..

I'm about to wash my hands of the situation, and just leave the country.. I'm so pissed and upset right now, I don't know what to say or think.. I'm really upset, and I'm at a total loss for what to do..

11. Join The Club Converted....
I've thought more and more frequently about how I would need to prepare to move outside of the U.S., and where I would go. Since I'm single, it would be easier than those who have families, and can't just relocate.

13. Exactly. Was that the excuse of the Germans who did nothing?
Of course, they did rebuild very nicely after the war.

Are we supposed to bring on World War III as a wakeup call?

18. The real control over this country belongs to
those who hold the purse strings. A powerful enough legislature will negate a conservative court, a but a conservative court can act as a catalyst for rallying the population to ELECT progressive representatives.

The court's ability to throw us towards fascism can only be achieved if we continue to get beat at the ballot box. Think about it, how important would Scalito be it we held strong majorities in both houses?

I'm not saying lay down, I'm just saying that the silver lining to the Alito inevitability could be a swing back left.

and they have the resources to do it. This is opening a pandora's box that the executive branch will not be able to control.
It's "strategic" to have faith Roe will never be overturned, but i've never heard anyone who values their own reproductive freedom willing to take that bet.
It's never someone with a uterus espousing this strategy.
No thanks, dude.
