Hello. My name is Jackpine.
I'm a DUaholic.

1. I have admitted I was powerless over General Discussion—that my life had become unmanageable.
2. Came to believe that a power greater than myself could restore me to watching sports on television
3. Made a decision to turn my will and my life over to the care of the DLC.

Right glad to meet ya. Brother, I got that monkey on my back too... Been tryin' to buck it since november 2004... I came here hopin' to get help.... They say noone with an IQ over 100 has ever finshed rehab and stayed away. Man, oh man, I got that monkey on my back too, brother. My man tells me I've changed and spend too much time online with the good folks here. I can't even look him in the eyes and tell him that I'll change.. Friend, to tell you the truth, that monkey is a 900 lb gorilla with a velcro coat on.

7. How dare you imply that I have a problem
I can quit any time! I can do it right now! I could just stop posting, right now. I'm only continuing to post because I enjoy it. I don't have to post. This could be my last post, you don't know.

Why can't everybody just leave me alone?????

8. Hey Jackpine your not alone
If I could offer some advice, dunp #3. As someone who believes in democratic principles, I find the DLC to be something akin to the anti-christ. They are the spawn of Satan and will be the ruination of this country as much as the current Rebublican party.

9. I REFUSE to participate ...
... beause I DO NOT have a problem!

LOTS of people spend every waking moment on DU.

LOTS of people call in late to their jobs because there's a post on GDP that just HAS to be responded to -- NOW!

LOTS of people stop seeing their friends because they're working on RANTS that need to be SEEN by everyone!

LOTS of people get divorced because their spouse gets tired of hearing, "No, honey, not now -- there's Late Breaking News."

LOTS of people feel a need to be connected to their favourite website in lieu of eating, sleeping, and using the bathroom more than once in a 24-hour period.

LOTS of people know more about their fellow webmates than they do about their own children (-- and I actually think I have some children, somewhere, but I'm not sure.)

I DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM.

I'M ONLY HERE BECAUSE it's part of my parole conditions (ugly incident on another site, and the Freeper STARTED IT!)

I DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM.

So there!

10. Hi Jackpine I am a Canadian who found my way here after November 2004,
I don't post much but I read here everyday especially the links to informative stuff. I have no idea why I continue check in here daily but I do and I am happy to find many Americans who have nothing but contempt for the current regime. At one point I was only seeing man's inhumanity to man but the posts by many here have shown me that I don't have to give up yet. Hope Springs Eternal

12. Just came back to K & R ...
... because I forgot to Recommend earlier.

But that's NOT because I was distracted by other threads.

Because I wasn't even on DU - hardly, anyway.

Because I still DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM.

20. We understand, Nance. You do not have a problem.
Sadly, however--and I don't know how to break this gently--you ARE the problem. Don't you realize how addictive those rants of yours are? Don't you know how many people open DU several times a day to see if there's another Nance Rant posted? (not me, really; I'm past that...OK, I sneak a peek now & then.) Don't you know how often someone says to themself, "That's it. I'm done with DU forever. I'm just gonna look & see if Nance wrote anything lately, then I'm outta here. Not coming back. Ever. I'm gonna start my life fresh. One day at a time. Just as soon as I see if there's a new Nance Rant."

14. Sorry, I'm late. Hello Jackpine.
You see I was just doing e-mail. I got a freepy chain letter a few days ago, and I wrote a rebuttal, and sent it back to everyone that was listed. And one of them bit and told me to "get a life..." so I was just correcting his grammar and spelling, and thanking him for his concern, and...

Anyway, I'm back! :)

15. Hello.My name is Alamom.
I'm doing ok..... ya know.

I've been around awhile........longer than my profile date.
I was here long before the 2004 breakdown.
Another username.....ya know. Left for a while, came back and couldn't get that old name to work.
I had a lot of posts, but hey, a new start...that's always good, right?

I read alot now (mostly everything) and only post "sometimes".
I don't do it all day long like before.

If you read only.....when someone comes around, just click off. They never know.
Posting is a little harder to cover.

I'm doing ok...........for now.

17. I don't have a DUing problem...
Just because I read DU when I wake up in the morning...
.
.
.
and periodically during the day...
.
.
.
and before I go to bed at night...
.
.
.
and sometimes I fall asleep in front of the computer reading DU...
.
.
.
and it's one of the first things I do when I return from out of town trips...

Heck, I could quit anytime I want to. I just don't want to.

19. Hello Jackpine
Listen, it ain't my fault...........

It's the damn PC. Every time I turn this sucker on, it boots up and heads over here. I've tried all sorts of computer type tricks, you know like screwing with the BIOS and stuff like that. Hell I even tried disconnecting the phone line, but that didn't work.

It's like this thing is possessed and bound and determined to get over here each morning no matter what.

As for the posting, why there are times when, for almost no reason I can remember, my fingers are drawn to the keyboard and I end up typing a bunch of gibberish in response to some other gibberish that has been written here.

I'd like to get a local religious type official in here just to check out this whole possible possession thing, but they're all busy either picketing the local clinic or out "smiting the sodomites", whatever that means.

So it ain't my fault really.

(I hope the President doesn't mind my stealing his line.)

22. Every time I try to get myself out, they drag me back in.
It's more -- informaholic. I get to know everything before everyone else. I know, I know, it's wrong.

I haven't got any critical information off DU for -- almost -- fifteen minutes, now.

23. Total junkie here! It is a lot better than being addicted to
Bushco propaganda
hatred of the underdog
obsession with war
addictions to spoiling the planet at an ever increasing rate
power madness and belief in fantasyland.

I will wear this addiction with pride. I have had so many that were much worse.

Actually, DU is the anti-addiction ... and we have meetings 24/7 to help us stay sober from our previous addictions! :bounce:
