I've lost track...do we like Barney Frank or do we hate him? |
|
...because I just watched Bill Maher and he absolutely kicked ass.

I have a vague recollection of his not getting Stephen Colbert's approach in SC's interview of him, which was understandable in the early days of the Report. Other than that, he certainly does kick ass!

8. As I said, I lost track... |
|
...sometimes "we're" fickle.
I've only seen him speak a couple of times before and I think his appearance on Bill Maher was perfect. The man knows his stuff and, much more importantly, he knows how to communicate.

However, speaking for my team, he is a powerfully articulate spokesman who doesn't take shit.
He's totally kick ass.

I'm glad he didn't let him change the subject all those times he kept trying to, and Frank kept him from twisting his words around too. If only the press would do that.

It is kind of sad really. He will make a joke about a liberal, and I know that if I go to DU, there will be at least 10 threads about how Stewart is over, he jumped the shark....yada yada yada

In fact, we agree on a great deal, but being myself, as you are, a combative type, comments that offer some possibility of a good scrap are more likely to draw a reply from me, fun being wherever you can find it in this sad and wicked world....

22. Mike, you really need to pick your targets more intelligently. |
|
I thought he was brilliant on Maher. My point was twofold:
1) I don't have his particulars (voting record, skeletons, etc) in front of me and, although I know I've seen a negative thread or two about him here, I didn't recall the specific gripes, and
2) Jesus (or pick your appropriate diety) could be discussed here and there will always be detractors. I was interested in hearing the DU buzz.
As an appropriate childish retort, I hate people who insist on spelling "losing" with two o's.

So I am not sure who was on Maher. Perhaps if the thread parent included enough information in the header so people can gage what he is getting at better I could of understood his point without indicating my confusion.
I spent years at Time .com/politics crafting headers long before I did any other model of posting threads. I know what is wrong with this thread and why.
Who was on Maher? What was the basic point he discussed? Give me that information and I don't feel compelled to say, "huh?" and as questions or make pointed comments.

26. THAT'S who said that!! |
|
Man, that has been bugging me for a few days now. I remembered hearing the remark, and remembered it was someone I respected, but for the life of me I couldn't recall who it was or where I saw him do it.
I like Barney quite a lot as it happens, but I'd really like to have a chat with him about Chavez. Unfortunately he's not even close to being the only Dem to say things like that about Hugo. It's like they think the guy is pure political kryptonite.

28. It's because Chavez is an unabashed democratic socialist |
|
He has never disavowed it, and he wears it as a badge of honor, and because the Democratic Party is really just a coalition of disparate groups with varying ideology, it's not likely that there will be any agreement about how to deal with that, or even whether it is an acceptable ideology at all, and the conventional wisdom still says it isn't even after the Cold War ended.

24. I like the guy too. Don't agree with him on everything |
|
(like that book he wrote right before Clinton got in that basically said that liberals shouldn't ask anything of the Democratic presidential candidate and dismissed progressive principles as "not-suppostas" {I.E., progressive opposition to the death penalty and corporate power})but no, I don't hate the guy.
Seems like you're just looking for flames here...
