Sorry I got so upset over rush mocking the disabled.
Edited on Thu Oct-26-06 03:40 AM by Philosoraptor
I shouldn't let the pig get to me like that, I don't ever listen to his show, I never give a damn about his opinions, I know how he operates, and what he's about, but I screwed up and let the fucker get to me yesterday after seeing him shake all over like a big tub of fat, mocking Michael J. Fox's suffering.

I started an inflammatory thread, now gone, in a pitiful effort to express my rage, built up from a lifetime of fucking with bullies and obstacles, sometimes it gets to me and I step out of line.

rush represents the real republican mindset, cruelty, ridicule, pomposity, arrogance and brutishness, and a sense of entitlement that allows all rules of human decency to be thrown out, and for a moment, he got to me.

He is the type of man who would mock you while they lynched you, mock your pain, mock your children's pain, mock Cindy Sheehan's pain, mock the suffering of the poor and afflicted. A man who would mock the suffering of someone with Parkinson's on live t.v., shaking like a fat rotting clown and laughing, is not worth my anger, but deserving of my pity.

rush is a pitiful man, who just happens to be very powerful and influential and wealthy right now, and I won't let his nastiness ever get to me again, because if I do, he wins.

Certain things get to me, and I must remind myself this is a long and bitter fight ahead, and I can't be swayed even for a moment.

1. You're absolutely right, sir: he's a bully.
I'm glad you're determined to not be as mean-spirited as he-whose-name-I-will-not-say. :pals:

2. I must disagree with you.
The insufferable lump is deserving of no pity. Understanding, perhaps; that foes with the territory, but pity should be reserved for those who don't insist on jumping right back into the same quicksand you just rescued them from.
He deserves only eternal derision and disrespect.

He is doing for the "conservatives" what Garner Ted Armstrong did for the religico-soothsayers in the 1960s. He is pulling aside the curtain that hides the fundamental rot and malevolence that supports the republican party, as well as pointing out that they have no grasp of issues confronting the US and the world.

4. I don't reference MSM so I only saw it as a headline in USA Today. Unbelievable.
I can accept almost anyone's response to this, if it's as bad as is sounds to be. Beyond belief. Unlike Terry Schiavo, Michael is able to defend himself and describe his exact condition, which I hope he does, nobly and at length. Invoking Christopher Reeve as he does so.

Why are Republicans as afraid of stem cells as sex? Are they terrified of cellular-level life?

6. Michael J. has already responded to Rush.
Not with anger, but as KO puts it, with grace. He simply said that (paraphrasing) "unless you have Parkinson's disease you cannot understand what it's like to shake constantly." Good for him. I had an uncle with Parkinsons. It was painful to watch his spasms for 10 years until it finally killed him. He never faked it for sympathy or for a Democratic campaign ad.
As far as Rush goes, I got his number good back in 1992 when he called 13-yr-old Chelsea Clinton "the White House dog." Pig!

7. Snake Oil Salesman Whose Shtick Is Gone!

Your anger is mis-directed.

Keep this in mind, "Trash Lumbaughski is paid to say what he says." He represents the nothingness of greed. This snake oil salesman once had a shtick that your government was evil. He has been bought out to sell the GOP message of "failure as success." He is a loser's idea of a loser.

Propaganda meets reality. Maybe we are witnessing the last throes of the GOP hate machine.

8. well, they are the Sociopath Party

Being upset about sociopathy is a sign of mental health and moral sensitivity.

Sociopaths do what they do because it's the only way they feel alive and human at the same time, in however pathetic or contemptible a way.

9. No need to apologize
Millions were upset over it as well. The world would be a better place without Rush Limbaugh and his ilk.

10. The whole damn country should be screaming mad about it.
There should be calls from coast to coast that he be taken off the air. He is a sick man and should not be allowed to propagate his hatred.
You were not wrong and have nothing to apologize for.

13. Joining me on the apology parade?
(I apologized on the impeachment issue). I feel passionate on the disability issue as well. I think Limbaugh did us all a favor in the long run because it shows the lack of compassion I believe is present in the republican party. I don't think the people are quite on that same level.

peace

14. OK
to have a strong reaction to the standard bearer, the mouthpiece, the subhuman embodiment of extreme Rethuglican views.

When I realized that "fine upstanding" conservative members of the community such as doctors, lawyers, businesspeople, farmers, were eating up Rush Trash back in the 90's it was a shock.

Uh oh, Houston, we have a problem, I remember thinking at the time. For Fundies to buy Rushian logic was one thing--but I saw people I viewed as reasonably intelligent going in for it. (!?!) Rush trash talk was meeting some inner psychological need of regular Americans right from the start. :( Nothing that has happened since in politics surprises me. We need to understand why his vicious crap sold SO well...among MODERATE (so-called) Repuglicans. They swept the Booshbots into power.

15. No need to apologize.
What the dem party needs is MORE anger and outrage. What Rush said was disgusting. And it's NOT okay! You had every right to express your outrage. We can't let him or anyone like him get away with it or else he and they will always win. I like your threads because they are HONEST. Sometimes brutally so, but they are necessary. Your threads are from the heart and the gut and that's what the democratic party needs! Instead of this tiptoeing around, let's not piss anyone one off, lets play politics and kiss ass. Enough! Enough! We are in this hell of a mess in the first place because the dems play politics oh so nice and oh so fair! Where were our dem representatives in '00 when the election was stolen from Gore?! Or in '04 when the election was stolen from Kerry?! Answer: Most of em were cowering in the corner afraid to make waves!
:wtf:
Sorry, but that's not good enough. And the minute we start behaving like them; oh so polite, oh so nice; it's all over, we're done, stick a fork in us. It's up to us to not give in to lies, deceit and tyranny. We must expect more, demand more and accept nothing less than compassion, truth, justice and equality.

You were not wrong to follow your heart and gut. Simple as that.

17. ditto
"we must expect more and demand more."

This is hard for nice people to do...nice people don't like to demand. But we have been used and abused because of this. We have adopted the passivity of the truly downtrodden, rather than fight. We have lost our nerve. It's time to stop being doormats. It's time to be angry. This can be acted on in nonviolent ways. But we need to have the nerve to express it and act on it.
