Mind you, in the past, he's certainly been a good-enough faker to fool those people who wanted to be fooled; and he's also been good-enough to fool many of the people who live with buckets over their heads (an image used to convey the greatly-reduced perceptive-abilities of people who aren't open-minded, perceptive and receptive) -- but he's rarely been good-enough to fool anyone who is cognizant of, and recognizes, (his fairly obvious) fakery. And he's never been good-enough to fool a serious student of such things. And, indeed, his fakery does seem to be declining in quality (is "I'm no longer..." his meaning?).

But I must say that I'm pleased to hear w talking about accountability, although accountability entails more than just flapping one's lips -- there must be consequences for the actions that one is accountable for. (Even if there aren't always pleasant consequences for doing "good acts" (acts that: make things better; we wish to encourage and reward, if only with words; are successful and positive; etc), there should at least be consistent negative consequences for doing bad acts (acts that: make things worse; we wish to discourage and punish, if only with words; fail to achieve some necessary end; are unnecessary, delusional, costly, dangerous; etc).)

And in the case of w, it's up to us, the people, to see that there are consequences for his miserable, misleading, failed, playacting at leadership -- or we are tossing aside the very notion of accountability (leadership, etc), replacing it with some pretense, and calling this good enough (which it isn't).

Is this the sort of people we've become? Have we totally abandoned the meaningful practice (and recognition) of principle? Is it all just form, pretense and posturing now?
